Default new trans should i mod?

Well i have 59,000 miles on my trans and the dealer is replacing due to the grinding issue. I am looking into possible placing in the jwt flywheel while they have the trans out. This was a mod i was going to wait until later to do but i was wondering if i should do it now while it is being repaired.

Any thoughts?

Do you think that the dealership will charge extra to install the new flywheel?

some might but even if they don't slip your service guy a few bens to be nice...they lose money when they do the swap...so if you are having him do MORE work for free compensate him

It will be cheaper in labor to do any clutch/FW work when the trans is coming out. If you are going to do it at SOME point, might as well do it now.

Will they charge extra for FW installation? I don't know, why don't you ask?

Dont give the service guy anything. He gets paid hourly regardless of the job.

Bull****.

They get paid flat-rate, which is basically a target time in which Nissan believes their technicians should be able to do the job. Regular flat-rate for a trans swap on an 05 350Z with the 6MT is 4 hours, warranty time is 2.7 hours. A flat rate mechanic (which pretty much all mechanics are) are paid by this flat rate, so if they make $30/flat rate hour, they get paid $120 under regular flat rate, but only $81 under warranty time.

$30 an hour you sure live in an expensive place, in ATL they make $18-$23 per flat rate hour for the top ones.

Regardless one can see why warranty work is hated by those with families to feed.

The bad techs get punished with warranty work, the one you want to keep get customer paid to supplement their income.
