Unbelievable. You got both motors on the lift and must decide which one to drop in before the wife gets home? What's the urgency? Quick question? WTF?

Just curious but have you have fully thought about what all it is going to take to get this motor (RB25 or RB26) to run in your car? It is alot harder than swapping it into a 240 because our factory ECU must remain in the car if you want anything to work (gauges, headlights, abs, etc etc). I'm not going to get into it because it has been discussed before, but just want to make sure you know what you are getting yourself into so you don't get in over your head.

Anyways back on topic. RB25 would be marginally easier to swap, but not much. They both require the same amount of work with custom fabrication and wiring, but the RB26 requires the RB25 transmission and oilpan be used (unless you want to custom modify your rb26 tranny and oilpan, but its a PITA you would have a gaping hole in your tranny that you just welded a plate over). Because you have to have a rb25 tranny/oil pan in addition to your rb26 it costs signifigantly more (around $5000 for everything rather than the $2500 or so for the rb25).

So basically I would steer clear of the rb26 if you are already running out of money and you don't even have the motor yet. I will also add, make a excel spreadsheet adding up ALL of the potential costs (expected and even some possibly unexpected). Finally, I don't know what your goals are for this car, but I am currently finding a RB26 for myself because I want to do something that is more rare and keeping about the same power levels I have. The VQ is a very capable motor and I wouldn't suggest going through the hassle unless you just really want an RB that much.

thanx for ur help. i decided on just keeping the rb35 and putting it in my 280. I think for my 350 im going to wait a while see what else comes up. If ur interested in the rb26 i can connect u to the person who was selling it to me. i have to pm u the price because i dont want to get harrassed by others wanting to buy it.
