Default Opinions on my Increased Cold Air Idea?

Wasn't sure where to post it, but need more input!
original thread started here

If it's an idiotic idea feel free to say so (to yourself under you breath) not to me or in this thread, I'm fragile.....

Thanks!

I dont see why not.... donno if itd really get anything for a regular car other than cooling, but I guess if you had a CAI you could improve things slightly.

you wont hurt anything, other than aerodynamics perhaps. but it wont hurt your car.

Thanks Ares,

My Injen Cone does sit down there so it's worth a try.

Since I am decreasing air with my new grill I wanted to find more cold air elsewhere! Plus a 2 lb weight reduction!

If I understand what you have done is remove the panel below the radiator and bumper, it is to force air through the radiator. The radiator has alot of resistance and the air would rather go under it. The panel is to stop this and force the air through the radiator. While racing, it is very important to plug all air holes between the grill and radiator. On the street, if you do not overheat, it should not be a problem, but is unlikely to help your air flow. On stock Zs, it could hurt since the stock cold air intake is in the same plane as the radiator.

Bad idea. The Nissan engineers spent a lot of time in the windtunnel and put that piece of plastic there for a reason. They didn't add it for fun. It cost Nissan too much to put it on for it not to be valuable. Not only will you mess up your aerodynamics and increase highway noise level you will probably cause the engine to run hotter.
