Default Tips on driving the AT (manual mode)

Hey,

Need some tips on the AT tranny. Just recently pickup a roadster AT. I had the manual coupe before it.

Let's say, I am going on "D" and needs to downshift it. Do I hit the "-" to downshift it and gas it at the same time until I hit the redline (whatever I choose)? Then shift "+" to this gear til redline. What is next after it? Can I still downshift to "-" again and follow the same routine?

I tried a few times but just didn't want to screw anything up. The rpm jumps so fast.

Btw, when I shift, all I need is just tap it once? I don't need to hold down on it right?

Thanks a lot.

Tony

no you don't need to hold it down, just tap it once. Mine is a little trickey sometimes and doesn't downshift on the first tap. You won't mess anything up, take it out and play a little bit to get used to it. usually if you start from a dig just slam the gas and keep it down, that will get you the best shifts. Just like driving a regular auto with one extra step and getting to choose the shiftpoint.

take it past the redline if you want to, just remember where your car shifts best and where it starts to let up on the power in the manual mode,
