Thumbs up Your opinion please

Ok Guys and Gals…
I am making/designing some things for my car, and was wondering if anyone would be interested in some of these: These are not for sale yet, but the reply to this post will give me an idea as to how I should proceed. (make one or make many). The items that I am looking into are:

Quick shifter: (about 50% faster than the one in the Z) Already done, tested today “awesome”, but just a prototype. It will be made in either stainless and/or titanium.

Quick Steering Rack: We have made 2 different versions for the Subaru WRX. The one for the 350Z would be about 2 turns from lock-to-lock.

Any response will be appreciated….

Mr. P,
Quick Shifter will be made (final version) with in a week, Have to order the titanium on Monday. But both versions (ss/titanium) will be done by Friday. (will know costs then)
As for the Quick Steering Rack, that will be a couple of months. If I do one, it is very expensive, but if others are interested, the price will go down per unit. Worth doing.

Sounds interesting, but mainly for the technology. I doubt I'd ever mod my car enough to warrant parts like that.

I can't really shift well enough to need a quicker shifter, and I've driven trucks all my life, so I've gotten used to the "steering wheel shuffle" steering technique, so I can handle the current steering ratio just fine.

As an engineer however, I'd definitely like to hear how things are progressing.

Well I will almost definitley be interested in a shifter (though maybe not a titanium one) as long as the throws are at least 20% shorter than stock, it is at least as strong as the stock unit and costs less than $200.

The steering rack would probably be a mod I would do in a few years when I have nothing left to mod. You know?

if i get the titanium can you guarantee no breakage? the reason i ask is that a few compainies have made SS replacements before and i've had them snap on me when power shifting. LMK.

Thank you for your responses,

I guarantee all the stuff that we make against defect (yes if you brake it during shifting it will be warranted), also, all of our products are tested in actual racing application. (Rally racing and Track). I will not release something that will break, …

I happen to think the stock shifter is short as hell, but i'm always down for shorter. I will be happy when I can stare the shifter into gear. Let me know how much and when.

How hard is it to install. If it isn't that hard, I am in for the titanium ones.

The install is fairly easy, all you need is 30-60minutes, a 10mm socket for the “incar” stuff (7 bolts) and a 12mm socket/wrench for under the car. You have to remove a bolt on the bottom of the shifter. If you did it as many times as I have done it by now (while testing different ones), I can do it in less than 15 min now. The only muscle you will need it to turn the shift “****” off. (but a rag and pliers make it easy).
I will do and provide a step by step with pictures “do it your self” manual. ( hey I will have nothing better to do tonight . I will make a .pdf for anyone who is interested in seeing what must be done, and will email it to them. So pm me your email, and I will send you the manual for you to overview.

If you live in Toronto area, I can be persuaded to install it for ya… for a price – a can of Pepsi and Vanilla ice cream!!!! hehe heh eheh eh….

couldn't possibly be more difficult than replacing an audi shifter. botls, torx bits, allen wrench on the 2 linkage bolts, circlip pliers, AWFUL!!! Took my 45 minutes to install and THREE HOURS to adjust til it was perfect.

The short shifter sounds pretty good. How much more effort is involved in moving the shifter than stock? Curious because the B&M short throw I installed in my fiance's Eclipse GT has a lot shorter throws but takes more effort to move the shifter now.

Not much more effort, my wife drives the car and she doesn't complain.
