Lightbulb I was at 7-11 and...

Well yea, a bunch of us were meeting at 7 11 a few nights ago just before we headed out to Palmdale tracks. Were all there with our cars you know, 350z, twin turbo zx, mustang, and so on.

We are getting ready to leave and in comes a stranger riding a black 350z. We didnt pay too much attention to it since we were leaving. While leaving he yells at us and tells us to come check out his ride.

Well, this guys opens his hood and there it is, TWIN TURBO setup!!! I was in total disbelief and denial you know, how can this be. He "said" that it was a custom built Nismo one that was specially made for him, I assumed he has major connections.

After all this I still didnt buy it, We went to an open industrial area parkling lot, extremely big, might I add. It was my 350 against his 350 "turbo". Let me say something, around the middle of second gear this guy flys off and Im lagging behind like a car length. The more I shifted the more he pulled on me.

We ran about 4 times and he won all four times by a good amount. It was really amazing to see.

I know that many people are gonna flame on me and say Im bs'ng or whatever but I just wanted to share this with you guys.

I've heard that Garrett and Nissan have been working on a 'project' lately. Maybe this was it?

odd that itd be nismo... but I guess.

they were making a supercharger tho...

he should have ROASTED you tho, like a over a second faster in the quarter.

and Im also suprised that he would seek you out to look at it, companies are ussually secretive about their works untill their done.

It did have plates but didnt pay much attention to them. There werent any decals on the car either. I just remeber how fast he was and the sweet exhaust noise. It sounded exotic like loud humming bees with a deep growl.

Did it have blow off valves? How did you see the turbos? You normally wouldn't be able to see them from the top.

Also, he could have a turbo kit, but there's no proof it's a Nismo kit. No one knows what they look like so he could've said it was a Top Secret kit and anyone would fall for it.

If it's true that's cool, but I think a turbo'd 350 owner would have been posting this on this board or other boards (or maybe not).

You should've worded this thread differently so that this turbo 350 owner can see it.

...that or maybe it was the fact that you had a passenger in your stock A/T Touring model Z with a full tank and vs. his 6spd base model, with a low tank, an Injen CAI, 100hp Stillen exhaust, a 150lb driver and NAWS!.

I personally am a bit leary. #1 a turboed Z would have spanked your behind a bit more bad then what you described. With no proof or witness = BS

Not that this really has anything to do with anything, but today I was in school and I was talking bout the Z (I dont have one) and my teacher said he test drove one last night. I said cool and told him I wished he woulda told me cause I am doing a story on the Z for my school's weekly show and it would be cool to get a shot of it....

Anyway, he said yeah "Sounds really cool when the turbos kick in"...... and I told him the Z doesnt have turbos.

Long story short, some people have no idea what they are talking about (This remark is pointed towards teh person with the turbo Z, not the person that started the thread)

If it was a real turbo set-up... SWEET!

So are you sure you didn't mistake what you thought to be a turbo for maybe an intake? or even a grounding kit....lol....seriously though you should have got that twin turbo zx taht was with you to race him too.

You know I didnt post this to be a moron trying to BS about somthing and make others jealous.

And NO, it wasnt an CAI intake either Im not a newbie with cars, (I work in a transmission shop).

When I talked to him after the race he specially said thatt he was told not to show it off or do anything "stupid", ie. street race with me. Also let me make it clear that I am not the one who said it was a Nismo, he said it, and I just restated what he told me.

I am pretty sure that he imported a custom bolt on kit from japan or he really might be well connected and have this product as he said he did.

As for the race thing were he should have killed me, I thought i stated pretty clearly that he left me in the dust around 2nd gear.

Only if somebody on this board were there so I can prove it with another witness but I guess there isnt, oh well.

Too bad you didn't take a picture of it. Then your story would have had some clout.

did he have other modifications? what model was it?

I would think it should have had an exhaust that you could see atleast. and probably a track model?

and when we say beat you, like bus lengths... not you at his bumper, or even 1 or 2 cars, I mean 50+ feet

Why is it so hard to believe the guy might've had a custom turbo setup? I've seen turbos on SLK320s and Aerios, so why would a Z be out of the question?

Thanks man, its not like I said im runnin the turbo you know, Im giving the credit to somebody else.

Anyway my friend and I managed to find him again at a local race meeting in van nuys. He was being a total showoff with his ride to everybody. This time we went up to him and asked him everything.

He told us that he was bs'n about the nismo thing. He said its a custom kit he ordered from japan through his dad's performance parts company. I asked him how much his hp is now. He said that he's gettin 375 give or take. I saw him do a few runs against some tt supras. He managed to win two and lose two.

Oh and I told him about the site and he mentioned that "he'll take a look at it" if he finds the time. When I asked how much the setup would cost if I wanted to order one he told me around 8 thousand dollars including installation. I think thats a little too much to invest in a custom kit with a no name brand.
