then get them replaced, just to be on the safe side and make sure the shop tightens them to the proper specs. I've used Gates on my own car, they've worked just fine. Goodyear also works well

When I pulled my belts off, I noticed tiny pebbles/rocks in between the belt grooves. I poked them out with a flat head screwdriver and the squealing was gone!

Well when I had mine installed they would squeal for like a week while I started the car up. After a while the pulley was broken in and I tightened up the belts and no more squeal. Also using Gates belts but I kept my stock ones just in case.

Does anyone have the stock numbers for the Goodyear Gatorbacks in the UR pulley sizes? I ahve the 3 piece set and I've been using Gates for awhile, the belts have started squealing like mad. I figure I'll just replace them since they are old.

Could it be possible that your pulley is not tapered properly on the outter edges causing belt squealing? Maybe what I'm saying is that you bought an inferior product.

I'm also in a dilemma about purchasing the three piece pulley set for my VQ35.

There is a GB for a under-drive pulley which is suppose to be the best made and the lightest at 1lb. 4ozs. The outter edges tapered properly to avoid belt squeal. T-6061 marine grade billet aluminum. Features factory timing marks. One pulley, GB $150.00.

Now on ebay, item#320195907213 made of the same grade billet aluminum, all 3 pulleys, $99.00 shipped.

So what I driving at is.....there is got to be a big difference in the quality of workmanship design. Right? Is the ebay item an inferior product? Or is it a Great Deal!!

Also..from what I researched so far...Gates belts are highly recommended providing you order the proper size for each pulley.

Ur pulleys are tapered to prevent belt squeel. I have a stock size ur lightweight pulley and use stock belts. I have zero squeel. Many will say squeal is only caused by installer error/loose belts. Personally I believe the stock belts prevent squeal bc they have this furry stuff on one side that is absent from gates or Goodyear belts.

Whew this is an old thread. Since we have some activity in it now I guess I'll post. I have been having no problems with the UR pulleys at all. The squeal was from improper tension. I find the easiest to test tension is to simply try to twist the belt, if it turns more than a .25-.5 inch or so keep tightening it. Belt squeal sprays and such are very temporary fixes, so just get under there and tighten the belt.

All that said, I have 95k+ miles on my Z and have had these pulleys on since day one. They definitely improve acceleration and I highly recommend them.

i had to get a different belt with my UR pulleys. My friends shop said it wasnt even a matter of tightening it that would fix the problem. so they hooked me up with the right size belt and not a problem since. the belt that came with them was the one that squeled and they were gator belts

DO NOT BUY!

Inferior pulleys can and will destroy the crankshaft.
