Smile Yay! Installed JWT clutch myself…

I found this trusty little gem on sale for like 55 dollars at harbor freight and it worked great. You’d still need to raise the car higher if you actually needed to remove the tranny but for this job its perfect.

This clutch flywheel combo feels good and at idle actually sounds quieter than the stock setup, my old throw-out bearing was unusually loud compared to this. I’ve finally heard the cement-mixer sound everyone talks about but I can live with it.

Wow, good job. I have the same combo and love it. How long did the job take? I paid to have mine installed. I wouldn't mind doing it myself if I had a transmission jack, save some money.

I really like that little gadget. I will have to be purchasing that to help with my clutch install. So did you replace your throw-out bearing with a new one, and now its louder, or the stock one was louder?

Not sure exactly how long as I did over the past three days. I kept having to stop and work on other work related projects and get little odd ball tools to finish up. I'd guess about 5-6 hours, I took my time.

Thanks for clearing that up, I thought that was what you were trying to say.

5-6 hours is not bad at all. I would be content with an install in that amount of time when messing around with other stuff. Good job on the install!

yeah for anyone thinking of doing this make sure you have all you need beforehand. It sucks when your moving along and then realize Oh snap! I need a bigger torx bit for the flywheel!!! Arg!! BTW you'll need a T55 bit, most sets as mine go up T-50.

Agreed, and to the starter congrats along with thanks for the link... I have been considering doing it the next time I needed a clutch but still was unsure... Cause paying a shop for it is not chump change.

I have the JWT clutch, but paired with the ACT prolite flywheel. I like the combo. The clutch is cool too. Kind of funny cuz the clutch has a small Exedy stamp in it :] I guess JWT contracts out to them to build it to their specs or somethng. My throwoutbearing is loud and chattery now at idle. Nice ride!

Congrats on the install, was your neck sore?

I have the same combo, it's not that loud IMO.

Good job, I have been wanting to install this combo myself but have been afraid of screwing something up. A DIY writeup would be awesome. Keep us informed, also did the new clutch come with all the bearings or did you have to buy replacements from Nissan?

The JWT clutch/flywheel combo I got had the pilot bushing, throwout bearing and alignment tool.

I had that very same "trusty little gem" and the fu(kin scissor broke while lowering the transmission on my F-150. Crushed my arm and pinned me to the garage floor. There's a reason it only cost $55.00. There is a hydraulic model available for about $175.00 which is much safer. I understand there is a difference in weight between the Ford tranny and the Z tranny, but why take the chance.
