Default Info for all modders

Something I ran accross. I knew this already and some of use too but now you know where to find it specifically.

US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312:
Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)).

They can void it and will, then you have to sue them.

Key word is manufacturer not dealer. I would ask for it on writing by the manufacturer itself

Well it happend to me and untill it happens to you there are ifs. Yes i got a letter from nissan that the warranty was void. The service manager calls the represenitive and that guy comes and looks at your car and decides if the warranty is void or not. My car sat at the dealer for over a month untill they decided it was void.

Felt this way as well, untill my car started to consume 1qt every 1k miles. So now, here I sit with mods, (not extreme) and having to decide to take them all off so I can get an oil consumption test done. My car has 10k on it. granted, if they replace engine, I'll have to take off anyway, but what a hassle.

Better safe then sorry when the dicks at the dealer tell you your SOL on your warranty.

Many of us know this. Unfortunately and I speak from experience, even if you take this to a problematic dealer, they will still fight you. In the end, most of us wont go hire a lawyer and take our dealers and NNA to court over them not replacing a tranny or regreasing axles on our Z's, we will just go elsewhere.

im having a oil consumption problem too...but because i could not provide oil change records from when i first bought the car they will no not warranty the engine. i was under 60k when i first noticed it and got the test done too. ive done most of the oil changes myself so i dont have receipts....so im driving around with a motor that burns roughly 3-4 qts every 3k...cant afford to do anything about it right now either, and nissan didnt help. bastards..
