It would have to be 20-25 orders of the same kind (I am referring to the Titanium version). I was going to pass the savings on the material, on to you guys. But I would have to buy a minimum of 25 feet of Titanium to get a better price. It was going to be something like 10-12% cheaper. Not much, but every bit helps. I have 11 orders for the Titanium as I write this, and I have received emails from few “confirmed” people asking when they can get their shifter – ‘cause they are anxious . So I will start making them. I will probably make another batch after this one is done. I will leave this ordering batch open till this Friday night. After that I will see how many other people are interested and take it from there.

I didn’t, and will not get into the debate about the weight “heavier is better, lighter is better”, of the shifter. I will just give you my observation based on few facts.
( I am NOT saying this because I sell it, actually I make slightly more selling the SS one). Each one has its advantage and disadvantage. It depends on how the shifter works (is designed). The shifter in the “350Z” has its “fulcrum” pivot point in the middle (ok, a 3/4s of way down) as opposed to some designs as “Subaru WRX” that has the pivot point on the bottom. But look at it like this. In any situation (as long as they are the similar thing) the force required to start moving a lighter object will be less that a heavier object. Yes, once you get that ton of bricks moving . . . . ya, ya ,ya . . . . I know – momentum, and that is when the heavier shifter has its advantage. But wait, I am only moving it 2.7 inches . . . . . hmmmmmmm, That ‘s out the window.
I have been involve in racing, and a lot in Rally racing, where you shift every 2 seconds, so what do you think the top teams use (and please don’t say paddle semiautomatics, because they cost $250,000 a tranny, without the computer to run it.). We have made some for them (Shifters). Trust me, I rather shift a shifter 1000 times that is lighter, than one that is heavier.
The other side of this is, the heavier shifter will absorb more vibrations, and harmonics, might be a bit quieter. Well, than, I should buy a Cadillac, not a Z, . . . . just kidding.
I don’t know what it is, it (Ti) just feel right, or it could just be . . . ha, I have a Titanium shifter !! Do you ???
And IMHO, that is the biggest difference. Bragging wrights. . . . and personal taste.
What I just told you is a personal choice. As I have tried Ti, SS and an aluminum one also, (first tester), my opinion is, that the Ti is the easiest to use. If you are not sure, wait till someone has one and try their car. I would not want you to buy something that you would not be happy with.
Dweeb needs sleep now . . . . .

im in for sure. the length of throw is the very first(and only) thing i was disappointed in. i had a short throw in my civic si adjusted to the limit and i loved it even though it was a little harder to shift. gimme the ti one since this car is a little overweight.
I was talking to my friend he has a GTS celica and i was telling him about the shifter you made and how i would probaly get the Ti because its lighter, then he told me that i should get the SS because aftermarket shifters are supposed to be heavier besides being shorter and that is why is B&M short shifter also brought at diffrent ****, to make it heavier, does anyone know anything about this?
All,
The shifters will be mailed out on Thursday, April 17th. So, you should be getting them next week.
I would appreciate any and all comments that you may have once you install the shifter.

* The Q-Rack , it is a quick steering rack. It will be about 2.1 turns from lock-to-lock.
I do the same thing for the Subaru Impreza RS/WRX and Rally cars. Nimble, but streetable (is that a word ??? )
There are a few other things that I am looking into.
*Front top control arms (camber/caster) adjustment.
*Different / modified clutch master cylinder. “bigger bore” ( to get rid of the looooong pedal travel, but still maintain the proper fluid volume to disengage the clutch properly) yes I know it will make the pedal a bit harder.
*Automatic “VDC and/or ABS” disengagement module – I hate that thing !!! that can be turned “ON” if you want it.

I would really like to hear the impressions from a number people who bought and installed the short shifter.
I think this mod would be fantastic -- but I really want to know what the actual experience is from a number of new users.
Dweeb... you are one hell of a machinist and an artisan ... the shifters look great and are a truly a work of art ! Hat's off to you and your skills.
