Default second transmission can i get a warranty??

Well 5000 mi. after they replaced my original transmission, i my Z in for a wierd grinding/whistling noise at 45mph when cold. They replaced my flywheel, throwout bearing, pilot bushing and clutch. Still there! Finally i called today and they decided to just replace the tranny AGAIN! I'm a little concerned now. Although i got alot of new parts for free, my drivetraine warranty is up in november. And i really dont drive her that much so there is a good chance that if this one is bad too i wont put enough miles on her between now and then for the problem to show up in time. Is nissan obligated to give me some sort of warranty past my standard drivetrain on just the tranny? I think the dealer warranty on parts they replace is only 3 months or 3000 miles. Thanks!
BTW she's a 03' touring 6mt with 39000mi.

You can buy an extended service contract from Nissan prior to expiration of warranty.

Question

The new transmission does have a warranty. What does it say on the back of the work order?

I have the same whining noise from my transmission cold howls like a *****. took it to the dealer and they replaced the diff , that was cool cause the rear end whined a bit not bad . The noise at 45 under light acceleration or slight deceleration 3rd 4th 5th 6th gear is still there. So I took it back to the dealer and went on another drive with the mechanic and one again showed him the noise. Well they were ready for me after we went on the drive the mechanic want me to go for a ride in there last 06 z in stock so he said, we went on a test ride in the new z well to my surprise the brand new Z would make the same noise . So with that they said it was a normal noise. If ya want to hear this noise just take off with no warm up and when ya hit 45 in gear do a slight acceleration and then a deceleration and maybe you to can have a Z car that will get people looking and not at the car but the noise. I love to drive the Z but I have my limit 30k car that makes a howling noise at 5 ,000 miles .The last parting word from the mechanic was don't worry about the noise ya got 60 k miles to blow it up.

Oldbutfast,
I totally agree, you got to expect more from a 30+k car with low milage.
I will be facing the dealer with a similar problem ,with the exception of poor shifting ,in the next few weeks.
I posted the following message in a different spot on this board.

Wow, I have an 06 Enthusiast manual with 2500 miles and have the same problem. It is a 2 tone whistle that starts somewhere around 50 mph and continues for a few minutes when accelerating only. I have determined that
it seems to be temperature related. After the noise stops in 3 or 4 minutes it
doesn't happen again until the car sits over night. Some times when the weather is very warm I don't hear it at all. The colder the temp. the louder and longer the noise is. I will be taking it back to the dealer in about a month.
It is off the road for the winter here in NY.
Thanks for all the input.
It's great to be able to find information like this.
It doesn't seem like Nissan is too much of a help. You would think there would be some service bulletins about this problem, but then you would have to admit there is a problem.

Work done by the dealer usually comes with a 1yr/12k mile parts/labor warranty no matter if your drivetran warranty runs out or not. You'll have to verify this with whomever does the work. I suspect the first time they worked on your transmission they didn't "fix" the problem and only prolonged it's usability. Replacing the entire transmission should fix the problem.

06 Base 6 - 12500 miles.

High pitch drown at 3500 RPM in 1st 2nd 3rd! This noise doesn't seemed to be related to cold temp. since its May and it's 60 out. Has anyone gotten a definate answer from the dealer? I am not looking forward to replacing the tranny already!!!

Well normally I do let it warm up a few Min's. I'm not gonna sit in the driveway for 10 Min's to bring the trans temp up to 40 . besides I have left it in the driveway idling for 5 Min's and still get the noise. its fluid temp that seems too cause the problem. Now that temps are up here it doesn't make the noise, but as soon as fall comes and temps o below 40 it will be back. ALL I CAN SAY IS THIS IS THE WAY NISSAN DOSE ITS WARRANTY ITS THE LAST NISSAN I WILL BUY.
