Default 5AT won't switch into manual mode

My shifter seems to be locked and won't shift into manual mode.

Any of you 5AT guys ever had this happen? What did you do to fix it?

I see the shift lock button but it doesn't do anything.

Help!?

well i have 6MT but i have had this happen in my 2001 Lexus IS300.

there should be a manual release button for your tranny. it is most likely under a cover that you will have to pry up with a screw driver or your key.

lift up the cover and push the button while holding the brake, it should allow you to freely shift into position.

once in that mode, shift back to park. now try and shift back to manual mode without using the release button.

thats my best advice, hope it helps.

0 problems here. Did you check the manual? Time to call a dealer.

It's your cars way of telling you that you got an automatic for a reason.

Yup the BS can sometimes can get pretty thick. But dont lose heart the majority are helpful real car enthusiasts

If you still have the prob, you would probably have to take her in . Also couldnt hurt to PM Jason or anyone of the Performance Nissan guys that are on here and ask em about it.

Peace

Anyone? I'd hate to take this to the dealer for something I could fix. No, the shift lock "button" is not the fix. But thanks for all those who have tried to help so far
