VQ35HR aftermarket part availability
For those of you who had Zs or were in the Z scene back in 2002/2003, when did the aftermarket really explode for the VQ35DE?
I ask this obviously because I am trying to get some idea of how long I'll have to wait to mod my 07 when I get it in a few months
Of course, a direct comparison cannot be made as there was quite a bit of time for R&D on the DE before the Z even came out (the engine debuted in the pathfinder in 2001), but it'd still be nice to know. Thanks

I know the drop in k&n air filters will not work on the 07 z from previous models. the new air filters are way smaller than the older 0z000s.i may have pics of the tiny filter on tomorrow. unless someone beats me to it.

I wonder about exhaust also, particularly the NISMO. I am sure the aftermarket (non-NISMO) exhausts available will fit no problem but I wonder if a new NISMO exhaust will be designed as the stock '07 exhaust has "improved flow" over the '06 and prior.
It will be interesting to see if they develop a higher flowing NISMO exhaust.

I'm putting you on notice..
Thanks to all for the helpful posts. The .5-1.5 year timeframe sounds about right. I can't wait to see how FI does on this new motor.

The first couple of 2007s at a 350Z meet or racing are going to get a hell of a lot of attention. You can bet at the drag races racers will be asking lots of questions. This bad boy has got to scream at 7,500 RPM. Stock it will be an attention getter.

Iron it out flat you will be surprise at the square inch filtration area for half the engine displacement............probably still gigantic compare to K&N drop in or even cones.

I doubt bolt ons are going to have much effect on the 07 Z. The headers and exhaust are so much better than the previous years, and the older Z's barely gain anything from those mods to begin with.
Power for the new Z will probably be found in high flow cats and bigger cams IMO.

I thought the HR had trual dual exhaust from the factory. That would mean none of the y pipe back exhausts would fit. Dual throttle bodies mean none of the current intake kits will work.

same question as one of the posters
does this mean they wont completely redesign the Z since they got the vq35hr motors? i mean if its only in production till 2008, then it would be a bit funny for aftermarket part companies to do more research for another type of car or motor
