Default How much power can the stock pistons handle?

I have been on the forums for quite some time and I have seen some poeple push 500whp on the stock block. So far here is the info that I have gathered:

Stock rods are the weakest link (especially the rod bolts).
The wrist pins on the pistons like to come loose at higher power levels.

Is this correct?

Are the stock pistons able to handle above 500whp safelty with a good tune and quality high octane gas?

I'd say that that is generally correct, although I would never try doing that no matter how good the tune is.

If i was going to turbo a stock vq i wouldnt go over 380whp just for saftety and reliability reasons.

Thats true for the 287 motors but not the REVUP's. REVUP's are a bit higher because of the beefed up rods and rod bolts, plus the more efficient valvetrain.

I think that the question is being misconstrued a bit. I will be more percise about the question.

If you were to through the stock pictons on say Eagle rods what would you think the power capabilities would be? Would you consider 500whp achievable safely?

I think you are asking a difficult question to answer. The stock pistons are not suitable for high and sustained boost. With a perfect tune 100% of the time, and high octane fuel, I suppose they might hold up. But since even low end forged pistons are pretty cheap, there would be no point in spending the money to overhaul the engine, rebalance...etc..etc..just to change out the rods.
