Default OEM oil Filter good??

I know i'm gonna get flamed all to hell but here it goes!! Bought my Z with 32000 mile on her, and have only used Amsoil and K&N oil filters since i got her. I'm really **** about oil changes. I know i don't need to, but i still change every 3000. (i know i'm wasting money) My question is.....is K&N that much better then the OEM filter that i should use it. Or should i stick with OEM and save the money since i am still changing at 3000? Thanks!!

there's absolutely nothing wrong with oem.. oem is great. I'd suggest aftermarket filters, only if you go synthetic to take full advantage..

I use the Purolator PureOne filter along with Royal Purple. I honestly heard and felt a much smoother engine in my baby the first time I used Royal Purple.

The OEM 350Z filter (65F00) is trash. A couple maxima guys (the maxima VQ35 uses the same oil filter) cut it open and found it to have cardboard end caps. Many have upgraded to the VQ30 oil filter (9E000 w/metal endcaps) which happens to be longer or to good aftermarket filters like K&N, Amsoil, Mobil 1......

I guess FRAM filters must be great too then http://www.6mt.net/forum/showthread....hlight=pureone I use the pureone pl14610, which is slightly longer. Just make sure you get the newer version where the perforated metal extends the entire distance of the filter

the serivce manager at a local dealership told me that the oem filter has a valve that traps oil for later startups. Flapper valve he called it. He said it was due to the vq35's sideways oil filter placement.

I use the long OEM oil filter. Don't know if it's better or worse but haven't had problems w/ it so far.
