Mods, best bang for the buck
So I sat here and had a little idea. Everyone has their thoughts on what the best bang for the buck is with mod's. So I thought I would start a thread that can act as a list of every mod that is out there (turbo kits) (intakes) (exhausts) and apply a simply formula. This is more/less just to actually see what the numbers are. Of course everyone has their own opinion so if you really don't like it, thats fine.
If anyone else participates, I will update the root post.
Formula
(HP Gain) / Average Cost of Mod = # of HP per $.
Rules
-Prices can only be taken from site sponsors.
-HP Gain is the advertised HP gain.
Here are a couple examples.

HP Gain: (350-400whp), 125
Bang For Buck: .02hp per $.017

do ppl really think that nitrous will blow your motor?!?! If setup and tuned right. It could be safer than F/I. No boost spike. or any of that ****. its a constant hp/ tq. window switch so you dont spray too low, and so you dont slap rev limiter. the only problem would be silenoid stick open...+1 nitrous

Nitrous is definitely the most bang for the buck period no matter what car you have. The problem is you're not gonna have that power all the time. It would make it more interesting if NOS was excluded.

To safely run nitrous you need:
NX Wet Kit: 500
Auto Bottle Heater: 120
Wideband: 300
ECU (Like Utec): 850
Nitrous Gauge (not required really): 160
Window Switch: 120
There are other little things needed as well so add in: 100
Install by pro: 300?
First bottle fill: 50
so total is: $2500
Total power safely added: 100 Hp
Cost per Hp: $25
This does not mention exhaust, headers, clutch and air filter that are all required to support this mod properly. I like the idea of nitrous but in the end they are all about the same.
Add those in for
1000 for exhaust (Nice proven exhaust)
700 for headers
230 for intake
800 clutch/flywheel
Total 2730
Grand total of $$5230
So cost is now: 52.30 per hp with nitrous.
With forced Induction: Say 8 grand all said and done: 125HP added---> $64 per hp
In the end it probably all evens out with bottle fills and such. So moral of the story is:
YOU GOTTA PAY TO PLAY.

This thread is useless as I have no way to know if people are using the same formula. Algebra is too big a word to describe how basic this is. One way gives you the amount of horsepower each dollar will buy and the other gives you what 1 horsepower costs. Is your answer "per dollar" or "per horsepower"? In the first case the highest is best and second case the best is low. Both are equally good for comparing as long as we SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE.
