Renault just patented (March) a hydraulic valve system. They stated that it is not ready for formula 1 due to the high rpm's

BMW just revealed the first continuously variable valve lift in a production engine. clever little lads.

and many others have attempted various electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Where do you get your information? I have no doubt about the horsepower claim, but camless?

not camless, but a "electrohydraulically actuated controller on the front of the camshaft". The article in MotorTrend online:

This vette is going to be amazing. Plastic molding instead of aluminum. Six-speed AUTOMATIC.
