You think that motor only costs 25K? Wow what did I do wrong lol...

Do you think the Longblock alone cost more then 25K? 25-40K is what I posted earlier. Pretty ballpark for a full race longblock.

Most people don't spend more then 10K for a built motor at this stage.

Are you referring to these race motors? If so, they run much more than 10k.
The girdle alone is $4500, plus two sets of sleeves (billet outers, darton inners), etc etc. Machine work adds up on these too, it is not just your standard build putting that kind of an engine together.

PS. They have made over 2500hp now, ON GAS! Twin GT47's @ 50+psi. madness.

^ Lol..
Top Secret, recently swapped the RB with a VQ in their skyline.. I think it was the OCT 06 issue of modified. It was NA producing 360whp.

I called those guys to ask them about thier bearings. They are drilled diffrently than stock ones, and yes they sell them. They also told me my eagle rods will all bend over 450hp, funny considering they use them in v8s making 1000whp. They also said i had to dry sump my engine because it wouldnt last above 450hp...

You can do that with a 2jz by just calling a shop and sending money. Right now I don't know a single VQ (besides this drag monster) that has even come close. If you can adopt the lessons learned from this drag car and make a daily drivable VQ with 1200+ hp that would be a truely amazing thing. Not saying a Supra with 1200hp is truely a daily driver but people do make streetable cars that powerfull from all the reports you read.
Yea but u got to understand the 2JZ...while a great motor... is nothing more than a dyno/highway queen. We have guys with 400-450whp Z's running 11's. I have yet to see a Supra do that with 400whp. They need at least 500+ to do that. Supra was a good car but the Z is showing its potential and undoubtedley... it will suprass it.

It did not say whp anywhere on that magazine. It was dynoed outside the car to the flywheel.

And no doubt VQ35 is a better NA motor. A NA RB26 would be a slug. If they wanted just another turbocharged car i don't think the RB would have been swapped out. Top Secret wanted to build that skyline with originality.

I think he meant 2jz motors.

VQ probably is capable because of the obvious larger displacement and blah blah but to build a VQ block and match bulletproof supra ability is alot more bones
.
How much do you guys charge for a fully built VQ longblock sleeved?

BTW: What's the update on the car on your avatar? I haven't heard anythign is a while from that car. It's lovely.

thats friggin ignorant to even compare a 3.5 litre ALUMINUM block motor to a 3.0 IRON block thats been around since 1992....clearly the 2JZ motor is capable in holding a LOT more power, in STOCK form, no girdle's or sleeve's necessary like you need on the VQ....and the stock internals have been solid @ 1000 HP...I've never seen a stock VQ35 do that before...i'm talking about STOCK....with a big single or twin set up....

plus, still have yet to see XTREME's video of getting into the 6's..they have been known to lie before, not sure if they even post on this board anymore..and they certainly did NOT run that in competition either...but PM did in fall 2005 with Vinny Ten driving....

the new VQ35HR is capable of handling 600whp.. not to mention vq37 or 38 on the horizon with beefier pistons and rod + other engine upgrades. No hard data yet, so we just gotta wait and see. It looks promising, though.

no doubt, its a factory twin turbo motor....i'm sick of ignorant people(kids) claiming that the current VQ in the 350z and G35 is capable of such power, without spending a ****load of money to reinforce the block and head...unlike the 2JZ

well, the vq35HR, 'is' in it's stock form, from the factory. It's the new engine for the 07 and up. They got a rods and piston upgrade. Hopefully it'll be capable of around 700whp..
