i have a problem too not really sure if the tranny or the torque converter. I have an 06 5AT w/ 6k miles. Not really sure what mine is doing it shifts smooth its just when i accelerate from dead stop theres this really loud grinding noise then it goes away after 30-40mph. It happens everytime i go from stop. I think its the torque converter is messed up.
The problem occured right after i did a really hard acceleration. What do you think?

Same problem. It started with 1-2nd notch, now I have 2-3rd notch. It's going to the dealer next week. Sometimes when I drive the car hard, I get a nasty grind into 2nd and 3rd. Fingers crossed for a new trans.

i think the 350z trannies are notchy in general....i wish they were smooth shifting like the s2000 or something....the tranny and its unsmooth shifts in the 350z really makes me irritated sometimes....i feeel like i can never shift smoothly cuz or the high clutch and notchy gears.

more like a positive feedback when gear is fully engaged, not exactly notchy at all.
