Want some candy apple? Haaaaaa.
If you want AWD it is MONEY. Just wait for the new GT-R or source a R32-34 elsewhere. Or buy an S14 and get full race to do the full AWD conversion for about 20k. You're in over your head ..+5... Unless you're rich.
RWD shouldn't be real difficult and no MAJOR fabrication .. You need the right people and resources for the job though. Call JE import performance for more info as they have lots of info about the swap.

If past experience teaches us anything, then 99+% of these types of posts never yield any results.
Especially when the person who posts the thread is not particularly well known in the 350z community. In this case, a relatively unknown forum lurker.
Add in the obvious question "why not just get the 2008 GT-R?" and this thread really doesn't make much sense.
Yes people have done the rb26dett swap. The latest evidence is showing that it is just not worth it at all. The VQ35 is so well understood nowadays, and has much more potential. As for the AWD drivetrain, it's possible, but again, is it worth it? Is the weight balance going to work out? What tranny to use? Is there even room in the undercarriage for getting power to the front wheels?
Questions like the ones I posted above generally end up being hurdles that are too big for anyone, let alone a relatively unknown forum lurker, to tackle the project. The OP says he has $20k to spend. Well, if you look around the forums, people have spent a lot more to accomplish a lot less.
Of course, if I'm wrong, I apologize for sounding like an as$h0le. But even if I am wrong, the OP is still going about this project the wrong way, and that is why people are poking fun at him. He should be calling experts and fabricators on the phone. He wouldn't post a thread on the internet where no one knows him and ask the most general questions possible, then expect to get serious answers from people who are also 99% sure that he won't go through with the first step of this project.
Here's my final word:
In my experience, if you tell somebody that their idea is impossible, or cannot be done, then they are much more likely to try to prove you wrong.
That's my $0.02, have a good day.

Hahah. Has no thread ultimately PROVEN the all mighty hail VQ makes a RB swap make no sense. To me the spending 8k for 400whp reliably on a VQ makes no sense. For the same level or a bit more $ i'd rather go with a different worthy platform.
Bottom line if you got the money, resources, and aspirations GO FOR it. I know what is involved for the swap so if you want give me a holler. There's much more knowledge out there than people think. Also alot more knowledge lacking^ ^ With all due respect. I don't intend to turn this into a motor war but it's my 2 cents just like yours wired247
But yeah.. Jet engine.. Haha. Good one

I'm not really talking about "proof" ... but the "evidence" that I mentioned is that there is now at least 1 tuner/builder on these forums that is so convinced that the VQ can make reliable high hp levels that they put a warranty on their turbo/built motor package.
combine that with the fact that the VQ is simply a more modern engine. aluminum versus iron, it's newer so getting parts is easier, etc
I'm not arguing or turning this into a motor war either, but all due respect Zexy, the OP said the motor was the least of his concerns and this thread is more about the AWD conversion

Can't be, I ordered and received ARP headstuds from them last week for my RB.
Zexy...sexy looking valve covers/front cover. Still debating on my paint scheme, probably a deep blue (candy blue if I can get it).

Well we are currently finishing up the AWD project. But it’s not a simple motor swap. U have to reconfigure the front frame rails to and modify under body to have every thing fit up right. That’s all I can say for now .ones it’s completed we will post pics driving experience RWD vs. AWD on the Z
