Redline vs. warranty

Redline vs. warranty
At 2,200 miles, I think I'm starting to feel the tranny not shifting as smoothly as it did on day one. With all the 3rd gear grinding posts I've read, maybe it's all in my head - I don't know, but my previous car (a 5-spd Maxima) went through a similar lifecycle - started out shifting really sweet and smooth when it was new. By the time I got rid of it, (about three years old) shifting into any gear other than first or fifth was an absolute torture. I just don't want my baby Z to go thtough the same downhill trend if I can help it
I'm thinking of replacing the tranny and rear-end fluids with Redline. I called my local dealer to schedule to bring my car in, but the service technician said she had just read a tech bulletin from Nissan warning them not to put anything other that manufacturer's spec oil in the transmission (no mention of diff.) She basically scared me off the idea and hinted that I might be voiding my warranty if I did this. Is this true? Will this void the warranty? Will it improve the shifting?

Very helpful there, buddy!
Or possibly, frenzee, like many others, has a tight tranny. I personally have a big problem getting into second when cold (got worse after I had my fluid changed - even used stock fluid as replacement). As things warm up, however, the shifing becomes very nice.
Now, as far as redline goes, I've seen a couple people post about a mix of two types that gives very good performance. I can't remember what the two types were, but search for a post by raceboy with redline and you should be able to find it. Basically it said that the blend of the two redlines was required in order to make it work better with the Nissan tranny.

Lots of people have put redline oil in their 6MT, do a search. Some of them are blending MTL & MT-90 to get closer to the Nissan GL4 75W-80 spec. Nissan can not void your warranty if you put in lubricants that meet their specifications. Even if you put in recycled corn oil they have to prove that what you did caused the problem (which probably would not be hard to do in that case).

Are you sure your tech wasn't thinking about the AUTO tranny?
