Default Horsepower!!!!

Hey-

I'm new to the z. just got mine a few months ago. Blue roadster tour 06....And I'm a 22F so I know nothing about cars! I was wondering how to increase HP without spending a ton. I want to get to 300hp. (287hp right now, aT)....Any thoughts??? Thanks

Since you have plenty of help on your other thread, I'd thought I'd be the first to post on this one I hate to tell you, but modding the Z isn't cheap. From your other post, you said you don't want to do that much, well then I would recommend easy modds like, exhaust, intake, spacer, high flow cats, ect. You will get the most HP out of turbo of ss, but you will spend $$$. So it's really up to you as to what you will be driving your car for and how much you want to spend. Hope this helps!!

I read you questions on unrelated threads concerning body mods and pink sidelights. I also looked @ your photos--you are a very pretty young woman. It seems to me, and meaning no disrespect, that your current level of modding enthusiasm exceeds your willingness to use the search function.
When it comes to horsepower-producing mods, this is certainly the place to be. It may also be a place to flirt online. But really, search before expecting long established members to give you a primer on NA and FI mods and the costs of each. Have fun w/ your car. Don't spend $ on mods you will later regret.
Learn from those w/ experience so you don't make mistakes we've already made. Sorry to talk to you like a Dutch uncle, but I think it's good advice.

JWT popcharger will get you there almost since you are talking just crank horse power based on the 287 figure.

Wow. I should have posted up as a girl when I joined this forum...

Search, is your best friend. Although you'll spend HOURS reading through meaningless babel and bs to get a spoonful of useful information, it's at a minimum - entertaining.

If your looking to mod on a budget, then tread lightly. There have been several people that have tried, yet many have learned the hard way that getting power out of our cars isn't cheap...

Good luck.

Danielle,

Welcome to the world of sexy sports import; great looking car isn't it? I have never been stopped so many times and complimented about the car, till I got into the 350Z.

Improving the air-intake and exhaust system are some good starters. At the end of the day, it all depends on your budget.

If you you're really strapped for cash, buying these components used would be another option. Moreover, purchasing the components that I mentioned used does not degrade its performance from new to used.

You have hp, which is usually to the crank, and rwhp/whp as the acronym suggest, rear-wheel-horse-power, power to the wheels. Power to the wheels are typically lower than power to the crank.

you can get a Top-Speed Pro-1 exhaust off of e-bay for $350 shipped to your door. Get a plenum spacer used off of a member here on this site or you can get a skunk 2, motordyne or AAM by searching at google/checking out vendors on this site. A JWT pop-charger can be had used on this site or from any vendors on the site as well and you can get some underdrive pulley's for about $250 too. The closest thing that we have to a "chip" is a Re-flash and AAM has them for about $600. If you do all of these mods you will be well above your 300hp(to the crank), while being pretty cheap and not compromising driveability. Easy simple mods too.
IMO do some suspension mods as you will notice the easy suspension mods more than you will easy hp mods.
Crank hp is the amount of hp that the engine puts out, power is lost through the drivetrain which means that the amount of hp that the engine puts out is not the amount of power that reaches the ground.

lol I wasn't going to tell you to search but after that post you need to. The cold air intake (CAI) replaces the stock air induction with one that gets cooler air (colder air=more hp). Check the classifieds section of the website and you are usually looking at around $200 if I am not mistaken. IMO they aren't any better than the JWT PopCharger or AAM intake.
