Default Engine not running on all 6cyl

My cuz has a 2006 350z, and only half the engine is running. Hooked up to the Nissan coder, and its not throwing any codes. He owns the dealership, but dumb machanics dont know what they are doing. They cant find anything, and they've changed almost all the sensors. Any suggestions..please let me know.

Oh forgot to mention, he got his motor washed, and ever since then it didn't run on all 6 cyl. only on half the engine.

THanks

sounds like a spark or fuel related issue to me... :P

But i don't see how it's running on 3 cyls, thats not even enough to keep it running!

Default running on half

well if you leave the car on for like 15 or 20 mins or maybe longer, and feel either side of the engine, one side is hot, and the other side is cold...like its not running on the other side or something. I'm sure if they had proper machanics it would be fixed. Unfort. I'm in the cayman islands, and we dont have any nissan specialist here. We think they are doing something wrong and not using the coder properly.

anyways, if you have any clues...please let me know.

I will tell them to check the fuel and plugs tmw, maybe they havent done that...pretty sure they havent..stupid idiots

Since all OBD2 cars use the same scanner why not take your car and Factory Service Manual* to any real technican.........there must be somebody who deals with BMW Porsche any high end car.

If three cylinders were not firing, the motor would be vibrating out of control.

either the coil packs or the plugs to the spark plug coils are rusted or screwed up and thats why maybe one side is running like crap. it might be something simple, but definatly take it to a professional before it gets worse

ROFL....yeah, dont run it dude.

My wife took my 93 Prelude for a ride recently (is my daily running car), blew the timing belt, kept trying to start it....$1800 later, all valves, valve seats, water pump replaced. With the Z, your wallet will be toast unless you are REAL careful.

if the ignition coils are dead, the car sounds and run really funny... I blew 2 coils when we did something stupid to the motec computer and it left 12 volts open and burnt 2 coils... and yes.. the motor still runs.... but it runs VERY ROUGH! AND DON'T DRIVE IT until you swap those faulty ones out!

cheers,

richie

Ummm, Im a tech at Universal Nissan in Orlando and I can tell you right now that if the engine was washed then there could be either any number of problems or it could just be one problem. And if only one half of the engine was running then the car would barely even be capable of idling. If the engine was washed and they have changed certain sensors on the engine from what Consult II has told them then the next possible thing it could be is either you have a bad ground along the ignition harness circuit or there is a short in engine room harness itself. Is it only intermittent in running ruff or does it run rough all the time? If theyve already checked all that per the pinouts in the service manual for continuity where it should exist and where it should not then the next thing they possibly need to look at could be the IPDM or a Computer for the car. Id lean more towards the IPDM since its actually under the hood of the car where as the ECM resides behind the kickpanel on the right hand side of the car.

pulling the plugs will tell ya pretty quickly which cylinders are dead or not. they are pretty easy to get to also. can't believe you are not getting a po300 code (random misfire) the coil packs turn in different directions, so some of the connectors point up and some down and some horizontal, making it hard to believe they got water in them. i would run it for a little while, then pull the plugs, figure which ones are dead, then start checking your connections accordingly.
but since you havn't responded for a few days, i bet it dried out and it's running good again, lol.
