I started with Mobile synthetic for the 1st year and switch to NEO Synthetic oil now. I dont personally think it's detremental to use ordinary oil. I just prefer synthetic for it's added benefits

I use Mobil 1. If you're going with a blend, you might as well pay the extra dollar or two and get the real stuff. Also, I've read that a lot of the blended oils have less then 5% synthetic yet you are charged close to synthetic prices.

Also, I don't mean to start a war but don't be scare tactic-ed into the expensive synthetic stuff like Royal Purple, Motul, et. al.; unless you're whipping the car at the track every weekend, most off the shelf synthetics (like Mobil 1) will suit your purposes.

I like the brand. Alot of racers in my area started using it back in the late 90's. No complaints on it at all. The oil goes for $30-$35 per gallon.

didnt nissan specifically say not to use synthetic on the vq? thats the word from my tech who met and talked to the japense enginers in person.

we DO use mobile 1 in the goat, since mile 1! holden made sure to paste a MOBILE 1 ONLY sticker in the engine bay, so we kinda got their drift.

I dont understand. Why does the dealership offer synthetic oil changes for the Z. I've had my Z oil replaced by performace with synthetic and never mentioned it. In anycase what were the damaging factor for using synthetic oil on the VQ? I've had my Z since 9/2003 and every oil change but the first one was synthetic. I have over 86K on the car and she still going strong.

After spendin nearly $80/oil change and with these new gas prices hittin $4/gallons, I realized why?

I have yet to keep 1 single car for more than 2 years. I figure after few years the cost of maintenence is not worth it.
Not to be cheap or anything but I wouldnt mind switchin to regular oil or synthetic blend over full synthetic. Honestly you won't see much of a difference as long as you dont beat the car on a daily basis.
