Default Engine stumbling- will idle but not rev

Well, I may have broke the record for first "issue". I've had my 2005 Enthusiast Z 6MT for two days and while sitting in very heavy traffic (going 0-2mph), it started to stumble when I revved it to move. It would idle fine, but as soon as I tried to rev, it would cough and sputter.

I nursed it to the side of the road and tried to work the gas pedal a bit to see if I could get it to rev. Nothing. It would idle fine and then just cough, sputter, backfire when I pressed on the gas and then the Service Engine Soon light came on.

I let it sit for about 10 minutes and it started and ran fine- but I did not get back into traffic.

The car has no Cats (resonated test pipes), so my guess is that is what's causing the problem.

I heard about fuel sending units being bad, and while I was low on gas (1/4 tank), I filled up right after it started up and I only put 14.8 gallons into it, so I don't think it was empty.

Any ideas..... kinda bummed right now.

Mike

PS- I can bring it into the dealer, but I'm thinking I should put the Cats back on before I do.

Update #1:

Took the car to Autozone to use their code readers. The code was a:
P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction.

On the way home, the TCS and Slip lights came on too. When it rains it pours.

Thanks, Z1.

The car is at a muffler shop getting the Cats put back on. I will take it to the dealer tonight if I can get there before they close.

Had something similar happen a couple of times, but my code was for a faulty voltage reading on my TPS sensor.

Take it to the dealer and let them work it.

Update #2 (final?)

Dealer replaced the Crankshaft Position Sensor per the TSB and I'm back in business.
