Default Need some help guys!

Ok, I just bought my 2nd 350Z. It is a 2003 Touring Model with 46,000 miles.

The Z used to have a Supercharger on it (forgive me as I do not know what type of supercharger was on it). He also had a Split Second that he piggy backed to the ECU for the Supercharger. That was also removed prior to me purhcasing the vehicle.

Now for the problem.

The Z will not rev over 4500 in first, second or third gears. It acts like it is in limp mode, but Superior Racing Development has done a reset twice with no improvement.

The 0-60 time on the Z because of this is right around 12-15 seconds. Yeah, crap, I know!

SRD also hooked up a scanner and no codes are being thrown.

Now, since I know someone will ask, they said that they were not able to read the ECU with their scanner.

Does anyone have any ideas? I have some thoughts as to what it may be, but before I start sinking a ton of $$$....I would like your opinions as well!

Thanks in advance!!!

SS box comes with the Vortech. Sounds like they screwed up some wiring when they removed the SS box.

its pretty hard to screw up wiring it back, there are two orange wires that might be crossed, find the instructions on www.vortechsuperchargers.com for the SS box and trace the wires back and make sure they are hooked up correctly.

good luck!!

Alright....I pulled the ECU and it appears to be wired correctly.

So thats not the issue....unfortunately!!!

Would the ECU have to be Hard Reset? Or would that do nothing?

Im just alittle anxious because no one, as in the performance shops, can find the damn problem.

I appreciate your opinions as to what it may be....definately had not thought of the wiring...so that was a great call to check on!!!

Could it be possible that the ECU was also flashed for part of the tune and it is running pig rich and bogging it down ? AAM and others have flashed for part or all of the tune . Just a guess

I was actually thinking that could be the problem!! And when he took the supercharger off...he never reset the ECU....so it thinks that the supercharger is still on there..

you would have to send the ECU in to Techno Square or AAM and have it checked and reflashed .

If it was reflashed, no resetting will fix it. It's gonna need to be reflashed either back to stock, or better yet, flashed for whatever you have on the car now.

Im not sure if it was reflashed...but yeah...restting would do nothing, you are 100% right on that.

I will try the UTEC....if that does not work, I will take it in to get reflashed back to stock. I only have an intake as of yet...no turbo or supercharger.....so stock would be fine.

Nissan said they would reflash to stock for $100.

Ok guys....apparently nothing worked...

So....I am taking the Z into Nissan today to have them take a look....they feel that it is the ECU running too rich...and that they need to reflash to stock. They will verify that today, and if it needs reflashing, they will do it for $100.00.

I sure as hell hope this works....I will let everyone know the outcome later this afternoon when I get her back.

Thanks again to all who posted up.....I greatly appreciate your input and opinions!!!

Here is the latest update!

Nissan called me yesterday.....they said that the ECU was fine!!!!

However, they did state that the fuel line from the frame to the engine had been "cut into, a restrictor placed in it, respliced, and also clamped". That is why the engine was not getting any fuel...ie...no power.

They also stated that the fuel pump was shot to hell due to lack of fuel being pumped through it.

SO....they wanted $800+ to replace the fuel line from the frame to the engine and replace the fuel pump. Ummmmmm....I dont think so.

So, I went to pick the car up and they told me that there was very little fuel pressure.....damn, they were not joking!!! I got the car about 1/8th of a mile down the road before she quit on me!

Anyways, it is being towed here to SRD, we have a fuel pump and line in the shop, so we will swap those out and see how it runs after that.

Fun fun fun....

SO lets get this straight . WHen you took it in , you were running really rich . When the dealer calls , they say someone plugged [ or restricted ] the fuel line on purpose . That would at least cause you to run lean . Are you being taken by the dealer ?
