Talking Best Synthetic Engine Oil?

Based on your experience, which synthetic engine lubricant do you prefer.

The top 3 vote-getters should be Mobil 1, Redline and AMSOil, so leaving AMSOil off the list makes any results suspect.
Redline has decent specs, Mobil and AMSOil are and have been the 2 primary manufacturers of base stocks for years!!!

Thumbs up AMSOIL

Amsoil is the best IMO. I am an ****-retentive engineer & did lots of research on the subject. I am running Amsoil 10W-30 and their filter. It's only been about 1000 miles since I switched, but I'm seeing a noticeable increase in mileage (>1 mpg).

I run Mobil 1 in the race car (engine, tranny, diff, & front bearings) so I'm a fan of that as well obviously. All of the SAE tests I saw favored Amsoil though, with Mobil 1 a close second.

You can't go wrong with either.

You definitely should have had Redline up there as a choice and not other, but this is a pretty slippery predicament we are in...

Get it?

I use Mobil 1 but primarily because it is readily available. I don't know about the actual specs but I have used it in all of my cars for years now.

In my motorcycles I use Motul or AGiP.

I've been told in the past that full synthetics sometimes cause oil leaks, such as seal leakage? Sometimes the front and rear seals leak due to synthetics. Is this true?

It doesn't cause them but I am sure that in a car that has a problem, the synthetic would leak out before the conventional oil.

Has anyone heared or known about MOTUL engine oil? Back home in Korea it is one of the most popular engine oil among car maniacs. Not sure but it is made in Italy and the price is really expensive...at least twice as much as Mobil 1 or other synthetic oils... seems like it ain't coming into US..so just wondering

Default My Thoughts

I have seen pretty much all of these, except redline tested in person. I went to a shop where they did test on Mobil 1, Castrol, Royal Purple, Valvoline, Penzoil. I used Mobil 1 for all of my cars up until the test. Mobil one and Royal purple I think are about as good as it gets, but when oil is removed from the bearing test, nothing and i mean nothing outlasted royal by a long shot! I have since always used R.P. Just my thoughts, I am not familiar with redline though so I can't say anything about that. I know they make great fluids...I would love to have a video of the test it's amazing!

Just My Opinion!

Interesting to hear your results. I work for Hot Rod Magazine and the editors said the same thing. Thank you for your input. Do you know where to buy for a good price?

I've hear good things about Royal Purple too just never seen it around.

I know the big V8 Speed shops like Summit Racing and Thunder Racing sell it.

Anyone down on a group buy?

I am about ready to switch to synthetic now. I wanted to put some miles on my car first and did the first 2 oil changes with regular oil.

Let's do this!

I don't reccomend you putting either in your engine.

Just to Clarify..its spelt

MOBIL not MOBILE

hahaha....

Anyways, I prefer to use Mobil 1 Synthetic. In some of my other cars I dont need synthetic. For conventional oil I prefer Valvoline All Climate.

I've also heard good things about royal purple. My uncle puts it in his '32 Ford Hi-Boy Hot Rod (Recently appraised by Barret-Jackson @ 100k) and swears by it.

I'm in for a group buy
