Default Oil pressure change with new filter??

I changed my oil yesterday, used the same oil i always use (Amsoil 5w30 high performance) this time instead of a K&N oil filter i used a purolator pure one. Now i noticed when all the way warmed at idle my oil pressure sits at about 35/40 PSI vice 50/55 PSI with the K&N oil filter. Is this ok?? I definatly put 5 quarts in (Check oil just to make sure) Could i have got a bad filter?? Or am i just being wat to **** and need to relax?? Thanks!

I switched to Purolator PureOne filter during my last oil change (4K miles ago), and haven't noticed a difference in oil pressure. (as compared to OEM Nissan "long" filter).

if the pressure is that high with either filter while you are warmed up and idling that doesn't sound right.

Hmm, that concerns me then. Since day one it has been just below 60PSI at idle. That's with the OEM filter, and whatever oil the dealer had in it when i bought her (Had 32,000 mis when i got her)SInce then always had K&N, now purolator.

My bad, i was wrong. I was thinking the first line was 60 PSI. BUT it is still running lower then it was before i switched filters. Was 25/30 PSI, is now 20/25 PSI sometimes a little less when idling. This Normal?

The important thing is extreme hot oil pressure at idle.........this is always lowest with brand new oil and filter and increases as the oil evaporates the lightest components with mileage and thichens.

Your FSM shows a minimum oil pressure which should always be above 150% say 20 psi worst case in extreme hot summer idle...........if not you need a thicker oil [progressively as bearings wear]. xW20>xW30> xW40.
100% Synthetic due to the homogenity of molecule sizes in Daltons have a bit higher lubricity [less friction] and often show a few psi lower oil pressure at least when new and uncontaminated.

Important to graph oil pressure vs rpm vs temperature to get to know when the filters internal bypass open as you could be high cruising on interstate without filtration on those 8 hour summer interstae trips.............always install a brand new filter before beginning vacation drives.
