Default rasp / idle

i know this is a noobie question but whats the difference between rasp noise and idle noise.. is idle noise teh noise the car makes when u turn off the engine?
ill put my suit on now

idle noise is when the car is just sitting there running without any throttle imput. You might get a slight rasp when you turn off the car or outrageous one if you install fart cans on your exhaust.

Members attempt to describe various exhaust noise with terms such as mean, tough, rumble, Ferrari-like, V-8-like, rice and rasp. For me, the terms are worthless. Two members might have the same exhaust set-up. One describes it as tough, the other says rice.

If you alter the OEM exhaust, say, headers or test pipes, the result may be an unpleasant noise. That noise is usually referred to as rasp.
