Why???

The engineers at Nissan have designed a ground system that is more than adequate.

Are electrons running around your engine bay causing havoc?

I got one cause it was cheap and I am running an after market system. Couldn't hurt anything, but it's not really needed.

I won a Stillen grounding kit as a door prize just after I got my Z. A write up somewhere, maybe in the Stillen catalog, says that it reduces noise that can effect elecrical / electronic systems. It was fun to put on but I did'nt notice any difference. I think they sell for $70 - $80. I wouldn't buy one at that price but would use the money towards something else.

i put one on my car but i bought it for like $20 bucks on the market place used. it dosent really do much because our engines idle nicely already, on my other car with a sr20 4 banger, the grounding kit smoothed out my idle.

...But they look sooooo good under the hood!!! I like mine (didn't notice anything "smooth" out), but I'd get a new shift **** for that money if you don't already have one.

Don't waste your money. Only thing a grounding kit does is get in the way of actually working on your car.

I don't understand why anyone would pay that much for a few lengths of 4 gauge wire terminated on both ends.

Grounding kits are a gimmick.
The majority of the people who rave about grounding kits, are the people with 15 year old cars. Their factory ground wire has 15 years of corrosion and when they install the grounding kit, their engine runs better and attribute it to the grounding kit "improving" performance. Performance hasn't improved at all, it's just been returned to the condition it should be in.

Be careful though. It is a gateway mod; first a grounding kit, then a turbocharger to tie it all together.

Gateway mod, I like that.

I always figured the grounding kits for useless until I noticed that the 07 Z has even more grounding than the 06, and the 06 had more than the previous versions. The factory might be on to something.

They are not using 4 gauge wiring, more like 8 or 12 but there is definitely something going on there.

One thing I will say, the connection to the body by the stock strap is terrible. It is a small copper strip bolted on by two bolts to a painted section of body. So current goes through the copper, through the bolt, across the threads and into the body.

I was thinking the same thing - the '07 has several more grounding points than the previous models.
