Default i am a noob :]

350z is my first manual car... and ive always had these questions in mind...

this car has a weird transmission, correct?
-the clutch vibrates when you rev high
-the catch point is very different from normal cars
-transmission noise is normal (from research on this forum)
-whining noise when downshifting is normal (also from reseearch)

not sure, gimme some feedback

Normal?... That depends...

It is also somewhat normal for our transmissions to be defective too... but being defective shouldn't be normal.

Bring your car to someone qualified to check it out (not the dealer). They can tell you if you have a real problem or not.

each car has its own engagement point to the clutch - the Z can be considered to have one higher than most cars, but lower than others.

There should be absolutely no vibration, at any rpm (at least mine doesn't, and its well used at this point)

Noise - at idle the throw out bearings can be a tad noisy - a slight noise is considered acceptable, a loud racket is a bad throw out bearing in most instances
