Hey everyone I have a question.. yes it's about mixing different brands of oils. Certainly not for my car but we have a beater minivan with 250k miles on the odo.
I have a bottle of Mobil 1 synthetic, 5w 30 and a bottle of penz platinum 10w 30.. can anyone tell me if it would be okay to mix them up just once? Thanks for the input.

Topping off the oil level with a different brand/viscosity is better than running low on oil, however, it is not a suggested procedure if it can be avoided.

So yes, it's "ok" to do it, but I wouldn't given the choice and non-emergency.
