Default Which synthetic MT fluid really performs better than stock?

Lot of inconsistency in claims of which fluid makes MY 03-06 manual transmissions perform better than the stock fluid during daily use or occasional track use, so let's see if a poll will help clarify.

Please take the time to post your review notes in the following format, responding with a YES, NO, SAME or N/A if you unable to comment.

Brand:
Improved gear change/shifter operation (COLD):
Improved gear change/shifter operation (HOT):
Decreased grind/clunk during shifts (COLD):
Decreased grind/clunk during shifts (HOT):
Decreased gear whine, in-gear cruising:
Improved fuel mileage:

If you have tried more than one fluid, vote for the best obviously but feel free to comment on both or make additional comments.

I have tried stock, straight MT-90, the MT-90 mix, and the RP. The RP was by far the best for all around driving.

RP
In short, worse of everything while cold to include notchiness/grind/whine. But man once it warms up its butterrrrr! Better in all respects when warm. Didnt notice and change in warm cruising noise or MPG.

This has been discussed to death but interesting to see in a Poll Format, I lean towards Motul from input in the past. But a PITA to get

I chose MT-90. I like it. It shifts smooth as butter when the transmission is at operating temps, much better than stock IMO. I think the transmission is always notchy when cold.

As for gear whine/MPG, I did not notice any difference.

I have voted for Motul 300V gear oil. I am suprised its ranked so high, given its limited availability....I thought it was our little secret..hehe. We have plenty of cases in stock, if anyone needs some.

You are kidding..right? PayPal is the biggest scamp/ripoff around. Outrageous fees, they can and have arbitrarily froze our accounts. Last time I checked, you needed a court order to freeze a bank account. Oh wait, they arent a "bank". Can you tell how much I despise paypal?? hehe

We take visa check cards too...if that makes it any easier...or good old checks!

I know, I was bustin on ya cuz Iv heard your rant before, and a justified rant it is, as is mine with the CC Companys. Our "lesser of two evils" clash.

Im looking forward to using the Motul. 60,000 is time for a change and things are getting a little stiff, spec. 5-6.

Technically, it just over 3L for the trans, and just over 2L for the diff. But since it can be diffcult to get every last drop, cleanly transfered into the cases, we suggest 4L for the trans, and 2L, which will give you a little extra in case you spill.

One oil that nobody has really seemed to try on the Z yet is Fuchs Silkolene Silktran SYN 5 gear oil. Its what I use in my differential since I have a Quaife (what they recommend) and I found it hushed my gear whine a bit from the 3.917. I've seen the Scooby drivers rave about it for their transmission.

I would use it in my transmission, but I need Matic J.

Seems all the synthetics only perform well when hot. Anyone experience improved cold shifting?

+1

I recently switched to Motul Motylgear 75w90 as the spec sheet showed it has better cold stability than the gear 300, and it definitely improved the cold notchy/grinding issue (about 1500 miles on the motylgear right now) and still has nice smooth shifts at hot.

thanks for the info!! I might have to switch to that after the summer. I think I'll be fine until about October with the 300, it's getting warmer every day here. This morning there was no whining.

I voted 'draw'.
I don't think that people are voting based on what the poll asks for, I think they are voting on what they use.

I'm looking for some more RP feedback.
