Default 1st Dyno... *tears*

I have an 05 enthusiast 6spd. Mods are Motordyne 5/16 copper isothermal spacer, JWT popcharger and invidia N1 catback exhaust. Do these numbers sound right? I have seen stock numbers higher than that. All pulls were done on third gear. And it was on a dyno jet. I am kind of dissapointed with the numbers , I was wondering if anyone could help.Sorry if the dyno sheet is too small, but
MAX Power =236.92
MAX Torque= 222.01

Answer me these questions and I'll tell you if you should cry:

1. Did you get a "before" dyno?
2. Have you seen stock numbers higher than that from the same dyno you used?
3. Do you know if that air/fuel ratio is accurate? If it is, you have a lot of untapped power to be gained by tuning. You are generally running leaner than you should to make optimal power.

Comparing numbers from one dyno to another is like two virgins comparing sexual positions. It's pointless, bullsh1t, inaccurate, and they are only comparing based on stuff they've seen or read.

If you answered "no" to either question 1 or 2, then you have nothing to cry about. Different dynos have different calibration and correction factors. So if one dyno says 230whp another one can easily read 260whp.

do you have a baseline? what do stock Z's dyno on that particular dyno???

no reason to feel disapointed until you have something to compare your car to other than other cars online all around the world

I heard somewhere on these forums that you have to do a 5th gear pull on the 287, for the best HP measure...I maaay be wrong though

no, it depends on the dyno, the operator, and the calibration etc

too bad u dont have vtech....

but don't be fazed man, dynos aren't meant for just looking at the numbers, they should be used as comparison, so baselines are super important.

On an inertia dyno, it would have been best to use 5th gear, or 4th at the least. Probably a few whp missing since you used 3rd. I wouldnt read too much into this one dyno session. Go back and make some pulls in 4th/5th gear and see what happens.

+1
3rd gear dyno might have contributed a bit to low dyno#'s.
My dynojet baseline dyno numer was 240whp/232tq FYI.

+1. Dynamometers are great diagnostic and tuning tools. If you find another dyno that gives you bigger numbers, you will have the same horsepower. Just bigger numbers.

i don't get why some of our dyno numbers look so low on paper =( it just disappoints me. for a "350"z, 230 whp just sounds too low.

Sorry, but I have only used GRD and CJ Motorsports for dyno's. I would post this on chicagoz.com as I am sure people there have gone to speed quest

very true. most cars put down the best numbers in 5th gear on a dynojet.

third is way too low of a gear.

The name "350z" is derived from the engine displacement.(I wish it stands for amount of hp)

Aye, best to use the 1:1 ratio gear on whatever car you dyno.

+1 My car has always Dyno'd way lower in 4th gear over 5th on DJ's. Take this as a lesson to always dyno in the 1:1 gear, you paid for an incorrect dyno-due to lack of knowledge. Dont let shops pursuade you to use 4th cuz 5th goes to high mph wise, they can spin to 200mph IIRC, always dyno in 5th!
