07 Z and Oil?
Ok heres my situation, I got my 07 Z in feb put 2000 miles on it then I changed the oil with royal purple 5-30w (5Qt) I checked the dip stick and I was just under the top hole, on the indicator. This was back in march, so today my car has about 4400 miles on it and it was feeling a bit wired for the past week, it didnt feel right when I floored it, So I checked the oil level today and I was well below the bottom hole on the dip stick, I checked the level like 15 times, let the engine warm up and set the car on an even surface and still got the same results. I had a few extra bottles of royal purple around so I topped off. Well my question for you guys is ....... Is that normal??? Im new to the Z, and well sports cars in general. I also drive the car fairly hard would that have an affect? Thanks

After the dealership looks at your car, please post an update as I am curious to know what happened to your oil?
Good luck.

My 07 has 2100 miles on it now. Since about 1200.1 miles, I have been driving the **** out of it. It's so much fun! It just loves to rev and begs to be driven hard, so I oblige!
Have not used a drop of oil... Damn straight!!!
My "old" 06 revup was starting to use oil so I am a happy camper that the HR seems to be so tight.

I think the black in the tips is from the burning of the gas. Esp when you romp on it, and the computer tells it to run rich. It's more like "soot".

I don't think so...carbon comes from gas. oil burning puts out a bluish white smoke.

I know this has probably been addresses, but.....How can royal purple be any thinner then any other oil. Isn't viscosity the same accross the board? 5W-30 is 5W30 right??? Isn't there a "standard:" there. And a reason for a viscosity rating?? I know i probably just opened a can of worms. But i don't see how an oil can advertise a certain viscosity. yet be "thinner" then other oils??

It may be the way RP breaks down over time..My friend had the same problem with RP when he ran it in his Mustang....Then again, a Mustang will probably burn any kind of oil you put in it
