am sorry if am bringing any old topic.. but i dont really know whats the problem and it tried to sdearch but i couldnt find something close to what am facing
i dont really know if what am facing is a problem or just me not shifting the write way
the problem is when i drive normally (cruising) everything is fine and shift soo fine with no problems...
but today i was with my freind and he just baught new VW golf GTI and he wanted to know how storng is his car, so we decided to have a freindly race.. so we started and it was the first time push my car really far .. so i noticed the following: i started in 2nd gear .. and when the rev hits 6100- 6300 i pressed the clutch and 3rd and once i released the clutch i heard souind from the rear (buug) ,.,, also form 3rd to 4th the same and 4th to 5th.. and after we stoped there was a wiered smell
is that a problem or its just me not synchronizing my shifting and removing the clutch at the right time..
i would really aprreciate your help.. my warranty will be expired after 10 days.. so if there is a problem i should get it fixed before they charge me hell of money..
thanks again and sorry for the long explanation
sorry for reposting in this section . but i guess no much ppl checking the repairing section and i need some ideas urgently as my warranty will be over in 10 days..

what does the noise sound like? try driving normally and see if the noise reproduces. is the smell coming from the clutch?
also, not familiar with the z's (i have a g), but was the car's VDC/TCS whatever the hell it is off when you dropped the clutch?

VDC is OFF
when driving normally there is no sound at all. only when shifting hard.
my buddy thinks its differntial.. i dont really .. am soo confused.
the smell i can feel it in the cabin . i guess yes its the clutch smell.
the sound is like .. duuuuug .. really just as am saying . once i let the clutch go i hear duuuuuug.. from the rear.. just as if rims was not connected and suddenly get connect..

more than likely if the sound is coming from the rear, could be anything from the rear portion of the drivetrain. perhaps it's the differential? not exactly sure...
the best thing you can do now is take it to the nissan dealer and reproduce the problem. hopefully it'll be fixed in no time.
good luck.

+2 on taking it in asap...its a sports car so driving it hard should not even be an issue really...but just tell them the story minus the racing part. you don't have anything to lose at this point...except paying for the problem after your warranty expires. taking it in would at least give you documentation down the road after the warrany if there is a problem...and then you would be covered.

Wouldn't be too concerned there nightcrawler. This noise is very common have heard this in practically all z's i have driven when shifting as you described. You are hearing the rear differential housing shifting on the rubber isolator bushing under those torque application scenario's. the factory used this type of bushing to isolate nvh, this is normal don't worry
