problem with acceleration, possibly clutch???
So i have a problem. I have notcied while i am driving casually lets say at 25 in 1st or 2nd gear if i punch the gas my revs spike up dramatically without any power connecting to the drivetrain. less than a second later as the rpms drop it catches and then procedes to accelerate as it should. now mind you this isnt how i drive on a regular basis going around jamming my throttle but i know its not right. if i am in 5th or 6th lets say going down the freeway at 65-70 and want to accelerate even if i slowly put on the gas it acts as if the clutch is still in it revs up without actually speeding up then drops down and procedes to speed up.
I am very frustrated seeing as i had a new clutch put in the damn thing not even 3 months ago.
also if in 5th and 6th as stated as above if i punch the gas i get the nice smell of a burnt clutch when it finally leaves the high rev point and comes back down.
if anyone can please shed some light on this it would be very helpful.
thanks
Jack
also sorry for any spelling errors i am at work and am trying to to be on very long.

Aftermarket clutches don't allow as much slippage as stock, so if you've been slipping and riding your clutch you can burn it out in few thousand miles.

driftin? lol not with those mods. you gotta have a 1.5 LSD or you'll be one wheeling it. you might throw the rear end out but you're not really drifting it lest its wet and your VLSD doesnt kick in.

Anyway, that being said, to the OP, your clutch is shot. Why is it shot? Couple of potential reasons, but you wont have the answer till you take it out of the car. In all liklihood, you either did not break the clutch properly, or you excessively slip the clutch during normal driving. No matter what clutch you have, from a $500 ACT to a $5000 Tilton, you can literally kill it in as little as 1000 miles if you really "wanted" to.

Z1,
thank you for your response. I guess i should have provided some more info as well. my car has now been registered as non-op for track use only due to regulations. they will be pulling the clutch this coming weekend. i will post updates afterwards
