Default Fitting a Built Short Block- Whats to do?

Hey all,

considering FI at some point but will not do without upgraded internals.

If i were to buy a pre-assembled shortblock assembly from Built Z Motors for example, with the motor pulled from the car, is it all that involving to swap over the short block?

Plug and play?

Im pretty handy with a spanner and have ***** of stone. . . . .

IT would be a complete swap over, unless you do 1/2 in head studs. I would recommed using the L19 studs, if your power goals are less than 650hp. Two things ought to not skip on, a reliable hg and your head studs.

Why would it be a COMPLETE swap over? I thought there was nothing else that needed doing . over at http://www.importpartspro.com/st1blon.html their package includes : -

Wiseco Pistons .020 over
Eagle Rods
ARP Rod Bolts
Block inspected and cleaned
Block redecked
Block Bored and Honed using a Torque Plate
Rotating assembly balanced to 50%
Crank magnafluxed and the journals micro-polished
New Ceramic coated Race Spec main bearings installed
New Ceramic coated Race Spec rod bearings installed
Block prepped and assembled

So are you saying that, its not just a case of swapping over the lower block, but also there would be some changed in the upper part of the engine that would been to happen too?

I was assuming it would be a case of, excuse my nievity, undo a few bolts, disconnect standard short block, connect , built short block. I know its not that simple, im not that ridiculously stupid, im trying to isolate the process by makeing that point

Basically you would just swap your heads and accessories intake over. If you know how to use a tq wrench and read a factory service manual and set the cam timing.
