Default 3.9 final drive and nismo lsd installed

Well I have to say I am very impressed with the change. It's not the neck snapping take off I was expecting but I love it. So as I have read anyone else that has did this change over its well worth it. Now the lsd lol yes it is very noisy but coming out of the corners wow no rear slide what so ever. So anyone local to me in mississippi on the coast that wants to do this change over and would like to drive or go for a ride to see how it feels before you do it let me know.

what fluid did you use? Motul is the only way to go with a Nismo... BIG difference is noise and feel....

I am running Royal Purple in mine, too (same mods). I really think the Nismo LSD wears down tires faster than the VLSD though. On the track it's priceless, and the gears really help the NA car get out of the hole fast.

Out of curiosity, how does the 3.9 FD feel on the highway? Are the RPM's off by much?

Nice man ... Sounds like I need to make the switch. One thing I regret about the base model... How much are we looking at spending for this set-up if you dont mind me asking.

Im going to be supercharged in a couple months ... is this something Im going to HAVE to do in order to put the power down ??? How essential is an LSD when your pushing 300 whp daily driven ?? Sorry LSD's and Tranny issues I would say are my weakpoint.

i paid 750 for my lsd 550 for my gears and 120 for seals, i did some computer work for a shop i used to work for and they did the rebuild for free. So i came out pretty cheap. there is someone on in cali selling the setup in the pumpkin for 1k on http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=158822. lsd is great, i can take corners rather nicely now. if you are going fi, most say if you are going to be pushing over 400hp then the 3.9 is not for you. but the lsd is worth it. i actually just came for inside from adjusting mine done, thought it was on the factory 80% and it was @ 100%. very funny but should be a lot more managable now when i am turning slow

yes thanks i love the mod. but question, my abs light came on tonight as i left work, no biggie ill figure it out later. but i felt my differntial cooler and that mother was hot as hell. just how hot do these things get? when the shop was assembling everything, look good, and all the backlash was as by the manual. so im curious if it just normally runs really hot. i read in a search that they do but how hot idk and thanks

Beside the diff covers above, we still have a couple Nismo diff's at the $850 price.

Do carbon lsd's really not chatter?

What is the difference b/w a vlsd, 1.5 lsd, and a 2-way lsd?

Does any company sell a lsd and final gear set together? In a pumpkin?

The differential carriers do get very very hot. As suggested, the switch to Motul 90PA goes a long way, and making your diff less grabby and noisy in tight corners. One day, I will get around to installing a diff cover on mine, since we track it a lot...but still havent done it. We have a half dozen of the Nismo covers in stock if anyone needs one.

How many miles so far? It does take a few days to take effect. MIAPLAYA did a write up a while back about the improvement. That said, it wouldnt surprise me if it works bettter for some, than others.

Well, more traction would equal more wear. Makes sense.

A vlsd uses a jelly like fluid as a locking agent to apply force when there are differential speeds between the 2 axles.

A 1.5 way lsd locks up fully on acceleration, and achieves only partial lockup on deceleration.

A 2 way lsd locks up fully on both acceleration and deceleration.

All 3 drive very differently and you have to relearn how to handle the car.

Most clutch lsds result in "poorer" lap times for the average driver. Unless you

know how to get around it.
