Weak engine, need help or suggestions please.
I have noticed that my Z is considerably weaker than every other Z I have owned and drove. It was having tranny issues, so I thought that might be the problem. Well took it to the dealership got a new tranny (CD009) and clutch plate. Car feels better, shifts really well, but still lacks power. Ive done almost a complete tune up excluding plugs(K&N filter, RP oil change, fuel sys cleaner, MAF cleaner, new battery old one died, ect... The car just feels like its lacking HP, its gotten to the point that I have thought of trading it in. I give it gas, and I do get initial power, but then it just tappers off. And you can hear the engine working and roaring but the car feels like its running on half an engine. Is there maybe something else in the powertrain that could be robbing power that I should look at getting replaced? It feels like something just isnt putting the power to the wheels like it should..or maybe just a weak engine! ANY help would be much appreciated!! thanks in advance!

Are you comparing your current 350Z to other 350Zs you've owned and driven or older modles like the z32(300zx)?
The powerband of the vq35 is much smoother and broader than it predecessor vg30.
However, if you're comparing it to other z33s you've driven then i dont know what to tell you without a dyno.

Well torque does fall off after a certain point, maybe that's what you are running into?
Also, have you tried a simple ECU reset? I'm assuming it's not throwing any codes either. Did you touch any of your intake system? TB, plenum, etc? Check all the bolts and make sure everything is on tight. But, if someone was wrong, it would probably be throwing a code...
Tough to say without someone else driving it who owns a Z33!
I would just take it to a dealer and go for a ride with a tech and see what they say.
Good luck!

No, don't do this because you could be spending a lot of money on an engine that is not potentially worth it. On top of getting a load-based dyno done, I would also suggest a leak-down \ compression test done to make sure your car is holding enough compression.
How many miles is on the car?
A cmopression test will tell you if your cylinders is holding enough compression which is the key to making horsepower.
Another, more simple thing you can do, is check your tire pressure and make sure they are up to spec as adding a few extra psi can make the car noticeably quicker.
