PO340 Camshaft Position Sensor
Cruising on the freeway when all of the sudden it seem to not want to go forward(running out of gas feeling). then, it ran normal . Parked it for about 2 hours and when i wanted to start it up again, it simply took about 5 seconds to get the engine running; however, the Engine light along with the TCS and Slip came on. I hooked it up to the OBDII reader and gave me the PO340 code for Camshaft Position Sensor. I got a couple of questions:
1.will Nissan cover it under warranty as power/drivetrain problem/60,000 or will i end up paying for it(car has 50,000miles)?
2.If not, how can i tell which sensor is the culprit, right or left?
3. Anyone have a picture of where they are located? Each cost about $50.00.
THanks!!!! your help is much appreciated.

Backside of the engine. Starting straight from the top rear of the intake, look down and you should see one to the left and one to the right. One of them is a little harder to see.
I think one has a 90 degree angle in the connector and the other is straight.
Don't think you can buy the individual sensors from Nissan...you have to get the whole set (120-130$). Maybe can get individuals from auto parts store, but don't know how those would work
I have a replacement set (all 3) still in packaging. Bought for an 03' but I don't think it's year dependant.

Let me know if they are going to charge you....Maybe can work something out. Crank is pretty easy to get to. The Cam's can be a little of a pain (moreso if your turboed)

ME-assuming that the car is throwing a PO340 code, will it be covered by powertrain warranty60,000?
Service Guy- No, its an emissions problem and is only covered under the 36,000/3yr. However, we need our technician to see it first to see if its not anything else.
THerefore, i went to the dealership and bought the sensor bank1 right hand side(59.00). It only took about 15minutes to replace and now the car runs like a champ!!
