How does a motor that's 2x as long, sit further back than the VQ? You mean you can put the front 3 cylinders further back in the engine bay than the front of the VQ? Unless you put the engine right in the middle of the car, I'm not too sure how you can really not be concerned about an extra 300-400lbs or so.
Plus won't the big single be top mounted? Those are exactly light. Plus the whole top end of the VQ is also aluminin.

right but usually lacks down low and sometimes in the middle and in order to get to that kind of power, you really need to stress the engine which is one of the reasons I went with a turbosystem rather than a centrifugal SC.

I think its rather amusing the comparison of an 18 year old engine to an engine which is 7 years old at the most.
I honestly believe that when aftermarket manufacturers and tuners have more experience under their belt technological advances such as Variable Valve Timing will show their advantages in helping to make more horsepower and broadening our powerband. In addition, I believe in the near future we will also start to see intake manifolds which will allow the VQ to continue to make power at higher RPMs.

The VQ35 is reported to be lighter than the 3.0 Vq30 it replaces. Weight of this VQ is only around 300-335lbs?
Weight of the RB is reported to be close to 600lbs?!

The VQ isn't the lightest engine and I believe that the weight difference is somewhere around 150 to 200lbs. You put a big snail on there and you're talking a different story though.

just to let everyone know i'm getting the RB26, trans, and electronics for free from my brother's car. So that might change everyone's view on keeping and building the VQ.

So if you were to take all of that up to JE Imports, you would still have to fork over at least $12,000 to $13,000 and everything on you gauge cluster would work except for the Tach. -I just got off the phone with them.

Everyones input is really great guys thanks.
Now I only have a couple of weeks to decide to do the swap or my brother is going to sale the RB setup to someone else.
To let everyone know its a fully built RB26 swap vs building the VQ
