when i put my 07 in N and rev up to like 4rpm then let the gas drop, the rev drops freely but pause at about 2ish rpm for just under a second and then continue to drop down. is that normal???

Very normal. Very common. Very searchable.

you should get it check out ASAP....4 revolutions per minute is way too slow for any gas engine.

It's normal for the rpm to slow down at 1.5-2krpm to keep the engine from stalling. You should start worrying if it doesnt do that. My car didn't do that one time, and it turned out I had a faulty electronic peddle and had to be replaced

no moflow, he is talking about free revving, meaning he doesnt go to neutral, he just revs it and stops and then the revs drop but they stay at 2k for a second then continue dropping.

putting your car into D is bad but wont kill the tranny immediately unless you do it a few times or throughout more beating or time.

what the hell r u talking about?

The original poster wonders if it's normal for the rpm to slow down its descending rate near 2k rpm, after revving IN NEUTRAL and letting the rpm needle drop back down. Reread what he wrote. And what the hell is a moflow

edit: you obviously can't know what he's referring to, because you don't own a Z.

This is one of the byproducts of the drive-by-wire throttle, if I'm not mistaken. The rpm's will fall off at different rates because the computer is telling the engine how to spool down, not your foot. That's why it behaves differently even though your foot is doing the same thing in each situation.
