engine heat
I installed my injen intake last night and went out for a drive today. After I got home I popped the hood and felt the intake pipe, that thing must have been nearly 100 degrees. I am thing about getting some exhaust wrap and covering up the metal tube and hopefully it will keep it cooler. I have been trying to thing of ways today on how to keep the underhood temps down, but to no avail... if any of you guys have any ideas lets hear it.
Well I don't have any good ideas on how to keep the engine bay heat down, but I would think, like you say, wrapping the intake would help. I'm still waiting for somebody to come out with a carbon fiber intake. Carbon fiber doesn't conduct heat very well so it would be perfect for a hot engine bay, and it's lighter too

I am actually working with a aluminum fabrication shop here locally concerning the heat issue. I am looking at several different heat sheild designs that are like a U shape that goes under the intake pipe and between the pipe and intake manifold itself isolating it more from the heat of the engine. This will help quite a bit as most of the heat is generated by the exhaust manifold directly below the intake pipe. The engine bay in this car is so tight that it is hard for the heat to escape. The shield will bolt in 4 stock locations using the origional hardware. If anyone is interested post up and I will keep you up to date
