Default TDC at compression stroke?

now I am about to put my tomei cams in... this may sound stupid but I just want to make sure.

i was reading fsm throughly and it tells me to put cylinder 1 to TDC at its compression stroke.

at the moment i have my cams and sprockets out of the engine, so all the valves are closed.

I put the cylinder 1 to TDC, but I cannot tell if its at its compression stroke or not. but since the cams are out and cyl 1 valves are closed, it should not matter because if I turn the crank 360deg for the next stroke, it will end up exactly the same anyway

am I right?

You are correct.. anther way to be sure is put your stock pulley back on and line up the line on the pulley @ 1:30 that will also tell you that you are at compression stoke TDC.

(Since you dont have the timing cover on that is why you have to guessitimate 1:30 because the timing cover has a mark you line up the pulley with.)

Yes with the cams removed, TDC is TDC.
