Default NISMO - ECM resetting package

For Japan-spec Z's and Skyline Coupe's only... NISMO is coming out with the following package deal...

For Yen 550,000 .... or US$ 4,620.. you get... the NISMO --

1/ ECM upgrade
2/ exhaust
3/ flywheel
4/ air element
5/ special plugs

From the brochure --- summary ....

"Sports resetting is based on NISMO racing knowledge and technology. Response and power feeling is very sharp... engine response that can only come from N/A engine together with electronic throttle -- which is best for torque. Good exhaust sound and the 6MT has very sharp response with the lightweight flywheel."

I will get further information on the exact HP output increase and more details ... but this optional package has just been added to my wish list...

ECM is equivalent of ECU here right?

<drops jaw>

That's why they kept such a complicated system so they can sell this package to nuts like us

ECU = electronic control unit
ECM = engine control module

Your car has many ECU's, engine, abs, climate control, airbag, etc. But most of the time people who say ECU mean the engine computer. So yes, ECM = ECU (engine).

The price includes installation fees as well. So the parts might be cheaper. Also auot-parts in Japan are more expensive. Maybe we can get the ECM ECU for much less.

that doesnt seem like a good deal to me.

who cares about the filter and plugs, so you get an exhaust, flywheel and ecu for 4,600.

Maybe that ecu costs like $3,000 by itself, but I thought it would be cheaper.

PLugs are often overlooked as a whatever mod.. but they are actually quite important when it comes down to efficiency in warm weather...

often a 1 step colder iridium plugs run almost $150 for 6...

and ovbiously, a free(-er) flowing filter allows more air for a modified ECU to use along with the advanced fuel/timing maps...

but the $4600 price tag seems a bit high...

While the price initially sounds quite high, if you look at the photo it includes 2 high flow cat convertors.
This is an installed price including flywheel.

If you were to price all these parts locally from various aftermarket vendors & have the vendors fit the parts you would find that the local price would come close.

No, if you look carefully, you can see where they talk about the exhaust and they say it's Verdina Sports muffler (Stainless steal), which is $1,611 at japan parts.
