Help: About to take on BMW M6, SL65 AMG, E55 AMG,M3 with NOS, Audi RS4
Hi Guys,
Thanks to Injected Performance, I have now received my internals and ready to build my car. Great guys, received excellent service and would recommend them to anyone.
I want to build car for 550 - 600whp. We have lots of BMW and Mercedes here in South Africa. I was invited to join a club which has members with some hot rides. Most of them have modified M3's and C55 AMG's. The top car's in club is M6 and SL65 AMG. They running 12.5 and 12.4's consistantly. I will be the only Z or Nissan in the club and really want to show these guys what a Z is all about and whip their a$$. So I need you guys to advise me on how I can achieve this with my new build.
For your info.. My mods are listed in the following link.
https://my350z.com/forum/new-owners/274462-my-twin-turbo-veilside-350z.html
I realize that to reach the anticipated power levels, I might also need the following:
- HKS Fcon VPro Engine Management System
- Water Methanol Injection
- upgrade my APS Fuel system with bigger injectors
My engine is being built at the moment and would like to know the following:
- Is the above mandatory if I want to do low 12's?
- What is the max power and quarter mile speeds you have seen an APS TT do with Unichip?
- How will I consistantly do 11's in quarter
- What would my chances be with these cars on 2km sprint?
- Will it be useful to upgrade my 2.5" exhaust to the 3.5" APS?
- What is the max I can get without upgrading Walbro Fuel Pump?
- After build how long will i have to drive car before putting it on Dyno for tuning?
Sorry for all the questions... But I cannot let these guys beat me. I will take on these cars after my car is built and tuned on a drag strip and will post videos on forum. We also have a Sports Car track day shortly and I will take on Lambo's, Ferrari's and some other sport cars. I really want to make a statement and prove to these guys that a Z is a serious contender.
Looking forward to hear from you guys!!
Cheers

Alcohol injection is really a good idea. It will help you extract major power out of the build, will do it safely and it's actually good for the engine
Big assumption is that your tuner can tune it right with the injection but most can so you're probably good to go. 12s is really not that hard to hit.
My guess on SL65's stats is that most people see the power/torque numbers and just do the <gulp>. No one lists the car's weight
I'm pretty sure it's heavy which is probably why the numbers are a bit disappointing.
EDIT: I just looked at your mod list. It looks good although those 20s will hurt your quarter mile. They are forged and all but if you are really serious about shaving everything off that time, consider buying 17s or 18s with some good rubber for track duty. Go with a wide tire but just wide enough to get you the traction you'll need for the 60ft. It will keep the inertia of the wheel down and help your times. Very wide tires get heavy and will hurt your times. Once you're done with the track, swap them out for your20s if you really like that look and you're good to go.
I did not see any transmission mods. Perhaps a better gear set optimized for 0.25 mile will help your times as well.
On the motor side, consider an external wastegate. It will be loud but will REALLY help your power. If you can't deal with the noise, you could do an adjustable exhaust cutout right around the downpipe section. When you get to the track, open it up and enjoy the power gains. And I don't mean 10whp. With your power, you'll gain another 30 to 40whp with this. I've seen dyno plots proving this.
Good luck with the build.

I think the wastegate might also be another good option.
Thanks Buddy... Do u know of Z's that did 10's with under 600whp?
