Default Project Choice: Skyline Engine Swap? Aftermarket Twin Turbo?

Alright...so im not the smartest dude when it come to the 350 world but ive decided im ready to do some upgrading to my Z AND IM LOOKING FOR SOME INSIGHT (plz help).

My choices are as follows:

RB26DETT Skyline Twin Turbo Engine Swap. I know this will take a lot of work / money because id have to go AWD, new tranny, axles, etc. So i dont know if this swap would be worth the money. i dont even know what it would cost me!

APS Twin Turbo. -> speaks for itself.

2jzgte Supra Twin Turbo Engine Swap. I dont know if this swap would take as much work as the skyline swap, and dont know costs of everything put together, maybe someone else would have a better idea? but yes, this is my third choice.

IN CONCLUSION: im coming to the more knowledgeable 350 owners / modders to get insight and opinions on this topic. if you could compare price / difficulty / pros - cons /, or anything at all, it would be very much appricaited because im ready to get this under way ASAP.

Thanks Guys!

I just want to be the first to say...

Search!

On that Note rb26dett isnt in a supra. That would be a 2jzgte.

Stop playing forza 2 and search the FI forums.

Also there have been notable swaps with a RB26DETT, but they were all RWD and expensive.

In that case, I'd suggest "neither" as your choice. Your two projects are not trivial and require above average knowledge of cars, the Z, turbos, etc.

You put a supra motor in a Z and everyone member of this forum will find you, hunt you down, and punch you in the face.

and im working with a well known guy local, very good with cars and they could do any of this for me, i just thought id come out to the 350 community on insight before i have him do anything.

i want to know whats most practical for power for the price. bang for the buck...ahh...you know what i mean

Personally, i think with the amount money you would spend on a swap, it would be better spent on the built engine with TT

wrong. You can get the rb for about 4k, high 3k if you are lucky, and the Rb bolts up right to the Z's transmission. It is an engine built for boost and most of the parts are fairly inexpensive compared to the Z and G. Have you gotten a price quote for the install and kit of a tt kit? it's like 15k+, that's not even with an engine build.

thread originator: Search, this has been talked about a lot.

Do you have 20 thousand dollars, cash, in hand?

If so, then you are entitled to start this kind of thread. If not, NOT.

The stock bottom end will not the completely stock motor lol. It will infact hold 1000 hp, beaten only by the sr20det.

Ok lloyd ill help you out.

With your limited knowlege of cars, you will come to understand one thing.

You may post as much as you want, but this type of thread seems almost, too farfetched there are a bunch of kids everyday who say they are going to swap this and do that. Without you making the decision yourself its hard to start and you will ultimately be happier than if someone told you what to do.

Here is my .02 though, you should be super happy with built motor and tt.
That is what i would go with. without the knowlege of cars, you will have a hard time trouble shooting when your new swapped ride starts up with the snags inherit of motor swaps and large projects. Pluss for less than 20K you can have a super fast car.

Please dont make a thread for a decision only you can make. Do a thread about your decision and the steps youve taken to follow them.

Good Luck. Also FI forums doing twins right the first time is a great thread for you.

it's not unless you want to be a little different. you need to consider the weight disadvantage the RB has compared to the VQ. I wouldn't go with the aps kit though, I'd do the Greddy, but whatever, they use the same turbo's. You still need to figure you will be spending $20k+ for everything in the end so I hope you're ready for that.

If you have all that money to spend. Try looking at hinson supercars or talk to Noahzburnt about the V8 swap he is doing to his car. For that money you could easily get a LS engine thrown in there with some mods and it will be plenty fast for you.
