So your selling it because it couldnt get inspected? Why would it not pass inspection?

LOL good thing i live where there are no emissions. If i were you I would find an old datsun 510 to put it in.

Finish the swap and i'll trade you straight up. Im in Ohio, so no emissions to deal with here. I also got a nice mod list, but NA, so no worries about emissions

The issue is not emissions. I do not have emissions either. The check engine light will be on permanently and will never pass the OBD-II part of the inspection..

and that motor is worth almost as much as my car is, so I don't think I will be doing any trades

Do you know why the CEL is staying on?

The motor has never run in the car (only test fit)...and yes I know why the CEL will stay on all the time....none of the OE engine parts will be in there to be referenced to. No stock O2 sensors, crank angle sensor, etc etc etc.

Aside from no signal feed back which I think you could get away with why would the CEL be on? It should be no different then with an Fcon or any other standalone. Oh well either way best of luck on what you decide.

True but that could be remedied I think. We know what all the voltage and signals should be. An output only board feeding the stock ECM to make it think the motor signals are there should remedy that no? I am quite certain KPeirson could come up with something pretty quickly.

Edit:
Honestly a muti output signal generator would fix the stock ECM problem. Here's what I mean, Forget the factory gauges, etc. Rig up a multiple signal generator feeding the expected frequencies to the factory ECM motor monitoring input channels. All it needs to know when the car is on is that its on. It can assume idle, or whatever you want it to. All you need is the ECM powered up to control the BCM. As long as the ECM is on all the acessories will work regardless of engine state. So with the ECM being fed engine at idle signals it will never trip a code. Side affect is that the stock gauges won't read whats actually happening but so what? You can replace them with Autometer Nexus units anyways. That includes speedo, tach, fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temp, voltage, etc. Either way I think there's a way around this provided you have someone to program and build a board to simulate all stock engine parameters at idle. KPeirson could do this.

if you get cel lights after the install just send your ECU to Sam at GTM with the codes it was throwing and he could flash the codes away. That's what he does for the FCONs he tunes. No cars come out of GTM with cel lights now.

That sucks. I mentioned in another thread that I could possibly help you make a new cross member if necessary out of tubes.

Oh well. Best of luck.

Thanks guys. I know you all want to see it finished...hell I want to see it finished probably more than anyone. I have loved the 350Z world and will def stick around...probably be at ZdayZ next year too...considering it is so close to me

MIA: I understand that I could fool the ecu to not show a cel...but before you can inspect the car the ecu has to show a ready state which requires driving around with varying speed/engine rpms until the ecu shows that the evap. system, 02 sensors, 02 sensor heaters, and catalytic converter are working correctly. This is the part that I cannot figure out.

Wouldn't the ECU do that if you fed it bogus idle engine speed signals all the time. I believe the ECMs steady state signal is triggered off of time with engine input not mileage.
