Default Random Overheating??

Ok would the thermostat be the first thing you guys checked for a car that is "overheating" completely randomly????? I mean this thing will spike up to the red...i pull over and sit for less than a minute, turn the car back on and its completely normal. Some days it does this, other days it doesnt???

You may have air in the system.

best way to get rid of it is to park the car on a hill with the cap open and running (blasting heat) and fill as necessary right?

there is a release valve at the rear also so you could park on a decline for that one... some have recommended both (after overnight parking). I just did the rear as per the service manual and after gurgling a bit, it seemed to do the trick.

You can test by trying to turn on the heater - I had no heat before the procedure, but got it back after venting.
